MI Top 250 Preview: What to Expect from the Liberos & Setters

It's Top 250 season!</p>   <p>With the conclusion of the high school season here in Michigan, that means club season is right around the corner. What better way to fill that gap between HS and Club than coming to Prep Dig's Top 250 Showcase?!</p>   <p>This showcase has become a staple in the Mitten state for some of the best recruits to come out and show their best game. This year is cooking up to be another spicy event with a lot of familiar faces to go along with some new ones that could be big game changers.</p>   <p>We're breaking it down position by position. Let's take a quick glance at some of the <strong>liberos</strong> & <strong>setters</strong> that will be at the UWM Sports Complex this Sunday. If you aren't signed up yet, check the link above and use the code <strong>LSHOTEXPO2024</strong> to join in on all of the fun!!!</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Abby Pernick - DCD</h2>   <p>Abby Pernick is coming off of a huge fall! Playing a huge role in Country Day's first ever title run, Pernick has seen her game grow throughout the season. Used mostly for her serve and defense, Pernick has a great touch on the ball behind the service line.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='575013' first='Elsie' last='Hultberg'] - Valley Lutheran</h2>   <p>This is another player who was a part of a deep postseason run for her respective team. [player_tooltip player_id='575013' first='Elsie' last='Hultberg'] is coming off of an Elite 8 appearance with her Valley Lutheran squad. Hulberg played a big role in the Charger's run with her defensive rotations.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='454374' first='Addison' last='Nostrandt'] - Birch Run</h2>   <p>This libero has been a long time waiting for the Birch Run Panthers. Wasting no time to make her presence known, [player_tooltip player_id='454374' first='Addison' last='Nostrandt'] had a big time rookie season. After winning their conference title, Nostrandt was one of eight freshman to be named to the MIVCA All-State lists and was one of two freshman liberos.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='587009' first='Kaitlyn' last='Koceski'] - Novi</h2>   <p>Another one of those freshman bros that had such a good rookie season, [player_tooltip player_id='587009' first='Kaitlyn' last='Koceski'] was the newest libero for a strong Novi program. This quick transition to the varsity game is to no surprise because of how impressive Koceski was in August's Freshman showcase.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='490347' first='Sydney' last='Shannon'] - Forest Hills Northern</h2>   <p>Nobody quite had the breakthrough season as [player_tooltip player_id='490347' first='Sydney' last='Shannon'] has. For one of the best teams in the state, Shannon proved to be a back court anchor for Forest Hills Northern this past fall. FHN was one of the top ranked teams throughout the duration of the season and a lot of that had to do with Shannon.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='443001' first='Zoe' last='Ryan'] - Divine Child</h2>   <p>It really says a lot about a setter when their team makes a deep postseason run with not a lot of offensive weapons. [player_tooltip player_id='443001' first='Zoe' last='Ryan'] has managed to find herself and her team in another Elite 8 match. Ryan was an All-Region mention this past fall.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='226936' first='Lexie' last='Stotenbur'] - Forest Hills Northern</h2>   <p>It is a surprise to see that this player is not committed yet. One of the biggest stockriseers in the state, [player_tooltip player_id='226936' first='Lexie' last='Stotenbur'] has really upped her game over the course of 2024. One of the biggest reasons that FHN managed to be such a powerhouse team this fall was due to Stotenbur's diverse offense. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='523865' first='Kate' last='Belt'] - Valley Lutheran</h2>   <p>Alongside Hultberg, [player_tooltip player_id='523865' first='Kate' last='Belt'] is another standout on that Elite 8 finishing Valley Lutheran squad. Belt led a very youthful squad this season to another deep postseason run. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='261175' first='Kendal' last='Quain'] - Marysville</h2>   <p>Coming off of a MAC Player of the Year type of season, [player_tooltip player_id='261175' first='Kendal' last='Quain'] managed to step into the full time setting position this fall with ease. With her height, she is quite the physical presence with her timely offensive cues.</p>
