Nemaha Central and Hoisington played a nail-biting three-set semifinal match in the Class 3A State Tournament in Hutchinson. It was a match with two very contrasting offenses.

The Thunder's balanced attack knocked off the singular attack from the No. 3 Seed Cardinals.

Nemaha Central will play No. 1 Seed Halstead in the 3A State Championship match.

Here is a look at four prospects from the game that were difference-makers.

[player_tooltip player_id='483894' first='Sofia' last='Simic'], 6'0”, OH, Hoisington, ‘27

I am not sure I have ever seen a more impressive individual hitting display in a state game than I saw from Simic. In the first set, she tallied 11 kills accounting for more than half of the 21 points scored by Hoisington. She is currently ranked No. 8 in the Kansas Class of 2027. This was the first time I watched her play for her prep team, although I have seen her play club ball and compete at a Prep Dig Showcase. I got what I expected a power-hitting display, and her teammates fed her all the Molten's she could eat. Simic finished with 30 kills

[player_tooltip player_id='465558' first='Cali' last='Honeyman'], 5'11”, OH, Nemaha Central ‘25

Honeyman is ranked No. 49 overall and has verbally committed to Highland Community College. She led the Thunder's hitting attack with 16 kills. She has improved her game immensely from when I first saw her play club ball. She should have an immediate impact playing for the Scotties.

[player_tooltip player_id='515151' first='Zoey' last='Sudbeck'], 5'7”, OH, Nemaha Central, ‘25

Sudbeck is currently ranked No. 71 overall and she can jump out of the gym. I was told that she committed to wanting to play college volleyball, when before she was undecided. Sudbeck had two clutch solo blocks against Simic in the second set. Sudbeck recorded 11 kills. She is an explosive athlete and would be a great addition to a NAIA or JUCO roster.

[player_tooltip player_id='446331' first='Ali' last='Jo Henry'], 5'9”, OH, Nemaha Central, ‘27

Henry is the lunch-bucket attacker for Central. She plays with more grit than John Wayne. She scored the ugly points for the Thunder and scored in key moments. She finished with seven kills. Henry is currently ranked No. 46 overall by Prep Dig Kansas.

[player_tooltip player_id='493449' first='Reagan' last='Gerety'], 6'0”, OH, Nemaha Central, ‘25

Gerety is currently ranked No. 94 overall by Prep Dig Kansas. She recently verbally committed to Baker University. She is a physical front-row-only player. She assisted on one of the three blocks that Nemaha had against Hoisington's Simic. Gerety finished with eight kills in the Thunder's victory.
