Rankings Update: Breaking Down the Top 2027 Setters

<p>The setters in the class of 2027 have been making moves and improving at an impressive clip. They have taken on great leadership roles and been relentless in their pursuit of greatness. Let's break down the top-ranked setters, stock risers, names to know, and watchlist names to know.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top-Ranked Setters</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Payton is a setter who continually elevates not only her own game but also those around her. She has high, quick contact on the ball and is very hard to read. Her quick decision-making, quick feet, and discipline on the court set her apart. She is very well-balanced and runs the court efficiently. She had over 700 assists this season and was All-State Honorable Mention for Division 1. Her great stats only tell half the story of Payton's game. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Gigi is another setter ranked in the top 10. She is incredibly versatile and very well-rounded. Gigi can set and swing. Her court awareness and athleticism make her one of the top players in this class. She sees the court incredibly well and is always engaged and ready to make plays on the court. Gigi earned All-State Honorable Mention. She led Wisconsin Lutheran in kills per set, hit percentage, and kills and was second in assists. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Lilliani rounds out the top ten athletes in the class and is the #3 ranked setter. Lilliani is a true setter whose volleyball IQ is one of the best I have seen in an athlete this age. She has a quick touch on the ball and takes any team she plays on to the next level. She had over 800 assists this high school season, and was second on her team in digs. Lilliani is a high-level athlete, both mentally and physically. Lilliani earned All-State Honorable Mention for her high school season. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Stock Risers</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Barrett is a player who has really come onto my radar recently. She is an absolute gamer on the court and will do just about anything to make plays work. Her grit on the court earns her points in and of itself. Add her skill on top of that and she is the whole package as a setter. Barrett has over 1600 career assists at Chippewa Falls, with 913 this season alone. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Abigail is a setter who could have a huge club season with [program_tooltip program_id='428591' first='FC' last='Elite']. She is clean and disciplined as an athlete which makes her ready to explode from a strategy and tempo standpoint. Abigail has her core fundamentals down and her footwork is quick and consistent. She is an athlete I would expect to continue to be a stock riser in this class. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Laina is an impressive player who puts in the work. She improves every time I see her play and that comes from time in the gym and intentional work on her game. Laina is gritty as an athlete yet has great ball control as a setter. She is aggressive and has a clean and quick jump set. She is a player who I am excited to see continue to play over the course of her high school career. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Names to Know</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Lauren is an athlete with an incredibly high ceiling. She already plays at a high level and anyone who watches her play can just see how much potential she has. She has great fundamentals and a keen eye on the court. Coupled with being 6'0", she is a high-level setter in the making. The talent in the Van Wie family runs deep and Lauren is no exception. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Meghan had a huge high school season and was one of the athletes that helped lead Bay Port to a state appearance. Meghan has a quick contact on the ball and a high volleyball IQ. She is a solid defender and rarely makes a mistake on the court. Her consistency and calm, confident demeanor make her a great leader on the court. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Izzy is a player with a lot of experience on the court. She runs a clean offense and consistently feeds her hitters solid hittable balls. Izzy is a player that embodies her role as a leader and a setter on the court and does a great job in her all around play. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Tessa is a setter who is quick and very clean. She has a lot of speed across the court and can find her hitters consistently. Her preciese movement and placement of the ball sets her apart from other athletes. She is an absolute gamer and an athlete to watch this club season. Taylor is a natural leader on the court and led her high school team in assists and aces and was second on the team in digs. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Watchlist Names to Know</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Lucy saw significant playing time for Pewaukee this year. She has 994 career assists and has been a role player on this Pewaukee team since her freshman year. Lucy makes smart choices and is a solid defender. She also is a consistent server. Lucy does a great job keeping all of her hitters involved. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Bailey is an athlete who has a lot of potential. She was a leader during the high school season with 893 assists. Bailey has great placement of her sets and a very clean release. She has an awesome foundation to build off of as she increases the tempo of her sets and continues to play competitively. Bailey is an impressive setter with solid form is an overall clean player who can find her hitters no matter where she is on the court. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Caylee is a player who could see a lot of growth this club season. She is already an impressive setter with clean hands and consistent placement. What really catches my eye about Caylee is her ability to make in-game adjustments and find her key hitters even when she is on the move. Caylee is an athlete to watch in this class and someone with a lot of potential. </p>
