WA Top 250 Showcase: Previewing Liberos & Setters

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Washington Top 250 Expo takes place tomorrow in Lynnwood!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Over 100 prospects will gather at the Academy Sports Center on Saturday morning to show off their games in the (very) short window between the school season's end and the club's beginning.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Several of the Top Performers at last year's Showcase return, and we look forward to meeting newcomers from across the Evergreen State! </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here is a look at some of the liberos and setters attending the event. See you Saturday!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='498765' first='Brooklyn' last='Foyle'] - Chelan</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Chelan setter has excellent length at 6'1" and helped lead the Goats to another state championship in 1A. That makes it two for two for Foyle, an outstanding beach player who grew her indoor game this fall. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='486968' first='Addyson' last='Pontak'] - Edmonds Woodway</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Pontak was the team captain and the starting libero for Edmonds Woodway during the past season. Although she had a late start to club volleyball, she is an impactful player in words and actions. Pontak earned a Top Performer Award at the 2023 Washington Showcase. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='484727' first='Brooklyn' last='Larrabee']- Ferndale</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This sophomore setter from Ferndale earned 1st Team All-Northwest Conference honors this season and helped lead the Golden Eagles to a state tournament appearance. Larrabee has quick feet and can make a creative set when she finds herself in a difficult position. She competes hard defensively and can make plays at the net when she is in the front row. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"> [player_tooltip player_id='249416' first='Tessa' last='Mossburg']- Glacier Peak</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A senior libero who led the Glacier Park defense to an outstanding season, Mossburg delivered as a passer, server, and gritty leader who dug out huge swings and went all out on tips and off-speed shots. She was a Top Performer at the Showcase last year, and 1st Team All-Wesco this fall. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='501666' first='Olivia' last='Puttler']- Emerald Ridge</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Puttler can operate out of a 6-2 or a 5-1, and the 2027 setter is comfortable pushing the tempo of her sets and reversing the flow to keep defenses guessing. The Emerald Ridge sophomore has a sense for making an offensive play out of the setter spot; she sees the court and knows when it's time to push a ball to the corner or send over a crafty dump. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='459090' first='Analiah' last='Lauifi'] - South Kitsap</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The South Kitsap libero earned a Top Performer Award at last year's Showcase and battled hard to get back on the court this fall after an injury slowed her early on. Lauifi is quick, gritty, and knows how to make a point-saving play as a defender. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Peyton Veenstra - GW Graham Secondary (BC)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Veenstra is a strong and fundamentally sound passer making the trip from British Columbia for the 2024 Showcase.
