Coming off the 2024 prep season, we already took a dive into Player of the Year and the Prep Dig All-D1 team.

But, there are a handful of players that deserve a little added recognition for how much they raised their stock during the fall and what they will bring to the court in 2025.

Here's 11 D1 players that put the rest of the state on notice for what's to come next fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='226875' first='Ella' last='Andrews'], Jr. MH Mercy

Andrews had to sit out last season, but everyone knew she would make a big impact in 2024 and did she ever. The 6'4” middle was a major addition for Mercy and was able to take over a number of matches, as she hit well over .400 and racked up a lot of blocks. Heading into 2025, the focus will be on her becoming one of the top middles in the state, if not the country.

Macey Brown, Jr. OH Mattawan

Brown has been a steady presence for Mattawan in her first two years with the program, but in 2024, she showcased she is a complete player that can make an impact with her offense or defense. Brown was the player the team turned to in key moments and will step into 2025 as a confident leader that can shoulder a big workload.

[player_tooltip player_id='240701' first='Giselle' last='Burlingame'], Jr. L Northville

Following in a long line of defensive standouts, Burlingame shined while sporting the libero jersey for Northville. She was a real unsung hero of the state championship run. With the Mustangs graduating a lot of key offensive players, Burlingame is going to be very important heading into the 2025 season while the team finds new options.

[player_tooltip player_id='237538' first='Annalise' last='Clark'], Jr. L Lowell

One of the dig leaders in the entire state, Clark brought Lowell back to a level of competing against the best in D1. She kept the Red Arrows in a lot of matches thanks to her ability to make a tough dig and deliver a powerful serve. In 2024, Clark had a career high in digs with 553, putting her over 1,300 for her career. Next fall, Clark will step into the season as one of the best liberos in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='226885' first='Allie' last='Davison'], Jr. S Marian

Davison had a lot of responsibilities heading into her sophomore season, but it was her junior year that she really took a big step forward in her overall skillset. Davison had clear command of the Marian offense, having developed more chemistry this year. However, she also showed an impressive swing when the ball get set her way, and her defensive instincts were really improved. Davison should be very comfortable in a leadership role with the Mustangs in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='490351' first='Quinn' last='Hanna'], Jr. L Northview

Northview was one of the great stories from the 2024 season. The program really turned some heads and showed it can be a contender in the years ahead. A big reason for that was the play of Hanna, who worked tirelessly in the back row to take on some of the best hitters in the state. She became more and more consistent with each week and will be a very polished libero heading into 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='470031' first='Avery' last='Kapeller'], So. OH OLSM

Kapeller has been putting in a lot of work to become a go-to hitter and this fall was her chance to show what she could do. The sophomore was one of the best finishers in a crowded Catholic League, which puts her in an elite group throughout the state. Her length and arm speed make her very dangerous from anywhere on the floor. She could be in for a dominant junior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='226907' first='Eva' last='Long'], Jr. S Fenton

Long has always been a star on the club scene, but in 2024 she was able to lead Fenton to a state semifinal appearance. Long has the ability to play at a very fast tempo and get a lot of good swings out of an array of hitters. When needed, she can also take charge offensively and make some high-IQ attacks. Long will have Fenton ready to make another deep postseason run in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='454358' first='Lily' last='Tripi'], So. S Eisenhower

Utica Eisenhower was on the brink of an appearance at Kellogg Arena and Tripi was a big reason why. The sophomore setter has the length and decision-making to be one of the best in the state. She knows how to push the tempo on offense, but also can play attack angles for her hitters to really hammer the ball. Eisenhower is going to be very motivated to push for a state title in 2025 thanks to having Tripi playing at a high level.

[player_tooltip player_id='467901' first='Mallory' last='Wandel'], So. OH Rockford

Wandel was an impactful freshman, but she made big strides as a sophomore. She put down over 550 kills for Rockford while improving her hitting percentage notably. Wandel also became a bigger part of the defense this year, piling up over 260 digs. She will go into her junior season looking to take another step and try and lead the Rams to that state championship.

[player_tooltip player_id='535138' first='Briawna' last='Zimmerman'], Jr. MH FH Northern

Not many knew what to expect of the Huskies in 2024 after losing to dominant hitters, but they managed to remain one of the top teams in the state thanks to the development of Zimmerman. The 6'1” middle had many dominant stretches and gave opponents plenty to think about offensively and defensively. This season should have Zimmerman looking to be one of Grand Rapids' best in 2025.
