[player_tooltip player_id='729539' first='Payton' last='Germann'] – Southern Boone

Payton helped her program come first this year. She helped her team win the conference tournament for the first time in program history and the district championship. Payton led all Class 3 2028 setters with 882 assists. Payton has excellent hands, which she worked on with her big sister.

Aubree Schott – Winfield

She is a multifaceted player for Winfield. She could play libero because she is a good defender but would be in charge of the offense instead. She would finish 2nd in Class 3 for 2028 players in assists with 658. Aubree reads the hitters well, fills in the gap, and does a great job getting the ball to her pin hitters. Aubree could play several roles in the next three seasons at Winfield.

Laney Toebben – Blair Oaks

Laney played a massive role for Blair Oaks this season and helped run the offense in a 6-2. Laney is a speedster on the court, getting too many balls that would fall on other players. Not only does she get to balls, but she uses her hands to set those bad passes. She finished the year with 336 assists and could be in charge of the offense next season, as the other setter will be lost to graduation.

Kendall Lay – MICDS

Kendall will be the future of the MICDS offense and should be able to step right in and run it next year. She would finish the year with 294 assists, putting her in 8th place among the 2028 assists leaders for Class 3. Her experience in the off-season will be critical for her development in running an offense that will feature one of the top middles in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='664702' first='Ava' last='Lane'] – Strafford

I wrote about Ava in my article for 2028 top hitters in Class 3, but they are also some of the top setters in Class 3. Ava has a volleyball IQ above most of the players her age and plays significantly above her age. She is a strong athlete with great hands and will give Strafford a tremendous two-way player for the next three years.

Ava Pyle – Oak Grove

Oak Grove has one of the top 2028 outside hitters in Class 3, and Ava will be feeding her balls for three more years. Ava has nice hands, great setter dumps, and quick feet. She sees the defense well enough to find the holes in the defense and is also a tough defender. The Panthers have four 2028 players who made significant contributions, so the volleyball program's future at Oak Grove has unlimited potential.
