Our positional breakdowns are adjusted every quarter to account for athletes that have yet to find a home for the next level. Here are five available middles for the class of '25 that each have their own unique take on how to play the position.

A multi-year All-State honoree, Carson recently reopened her recruitment knowing that she had more to bring to the table. Part of a perennial volleyball blue blood program in Trinity Lutheran, she plays for a small club in Seymour that has perfected the art of training the overall game of each and every player. Carson is no exception, as she can do pretty much anything she wants in the 900 square feet on her side of the net. She's big and physical, can run multiple tempo balls in front of and behind the setter, and is more than big enough to give fits to opposing attackers. This is a no-doubt recruit that is rare to find---a newly available recruit that is destined for a plug-and-play situation at the next level.

As quick-twitch as they come on this list, Cienna will be on the Samurai for the second-straight club season, getting the best of the best training there is to offer. Cienna gets up quickly, is exceptional off of two feet, and has a strong whip of a shoulder to power through blocks regularly. She's listed in two positions because she can---her right side swing is pretty identical to her middle swing in that it's high and deep and indefensible. It's surprising to me that Miss Lapsley is still available, but here we are, talking about a hyper athletic kid that's more than ready to play at the next level.

On multiple lists for preseason and postseason honors this past fall, Ryleigh has brought Southport back from the depths of volleyball irrelevance with her athleticism, high volleyball IQ and willingness to do what it takes to win. Her length also makes her look taller than she actually is, making her a tough kid to go against when she's blocking. Projecting to be an M2 at the next level, Miss Hamilton's fast two-footed approach leads to her being available to swing on every third contact. This is what work ethic looks like in the flesh, and the sky is the limit.

A major part of Tri-West's resurgence in the last two seasons, Ryane was an unsung heroine in the middle of what was a fast and dynamic offense for the Bruins. Armed with probably the strongest upper body on this list, Miss Spoonemore can take up space on the block while being tough to defend in transition. Fully capable of being either an M1 (one-footed) or M2 at the next level, she makes up for her apparent lack of size with athleticism and perfected footwork to outwork her opposing middles.

Long, lean and springy, Lauren makes this list from WAY up north, and will spend her last club season on NIVA's top 18s team this coming spring. She's an M2 through and through, and transitions so fast that a lot of blocks can't catch up to even get a pinky on her attack height. I like her quick feet the most---even when she blocks, she's often already closed with her outside blocker, waiting for the attack. That's a nice change from most available middles in this class, who are often late, too slow or not long enough to close that block.
