[player_tooltip player_id='731633' first='Catherine' last='Martinez'] (Manchester Valley) - Catherine has participated in our last three prep dig events. She is normally the lone class of 2025 at these events. You can tell by the way she plays on the court that she loves the game. While she has an interest in playing volleyball in college the libero position may be the most competitive position to snag a college opportunity. Catherine plays for Manchester Valley, who ultimately lost to Linganore high school in the Maryland state playoffs. Catherine plays a solid back row defensively but could use more work on consistency with her passing. She also gets underneath the ball with her serve. Striking the center of the ball with a higher contact point would create more velocity. Catherine will play club at Limitless. She made her debut in our rankings last year at 151.

Sophie Mentzer (Shalom Christian Academy) - While Sophie resides in Pennsylvania she lists her club as Liberty Elite, one of the top Maryland clubs in the area. Her recruiting profile indicates she will play for Revolution 18 White this year. The first observation watching Sophie play is her hustle. At 5'1" she is already low to the floor so she can catch up to the low balls. She is quick with her feet and extremely athletic. Her platform is clean for serve receive. Sophie belongs to the class of 2026. When you watch her play on the court you can sense her love of the game. A player to keep an eye on if looking for a libero.

Gabriela Deyo (South Carroll) - Another libero who stood out early with her quickness on the court and her hustle. She plays for the same high school and club (Metro North) as [player_tooltip player_id='735037' first='Makenzie' last='Kutzler']. Makenzie also earned a top performer award as a setter and earned a spot on the all tournament team. South Carroll lost only one match all year in Regional play to eventual Maryland Class 1 state champion Boonsboro.
