2025 Club Preview: Legacy 15-1 ADIDAS

Woodruff has been playing as one of the best setters in the Class of 2028 for years and she only solidified that with her play this fall. Woodruff looked like a veteran standout while leading Detroit Country Day to its first state championship. She takes that added success and confidence to the Legacy 15-1 ADIDAS team where she will be the lone setter. Much like she has done, expect Woodruff to be able to get the best out of her hitters.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Mixture Of Hitters</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Legacy's 15-1 ADIDAS team has an interesting makeup of hitters, with a combination of size, power and athleticism. One of the intriguing pieces is 6'5” middle <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='569766' first='McKenzie' last='Andrews']</strong>. The Mercy product definitely brings elite size to the court and is coming along nicely in her footwork and court IQ. She has the ability to be a dominant presence this season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='584595' first='Jamie' last='Smith'] </strong>is a 5'7” middle that can slide to the right, while <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='569772' first='Lauren' last='Sheldon'] </strong>is a 6-foot outside that can also play the middle. Between the three, Legacy should be able to keep opponents guessing with their variety from the position.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On the outside, Legacy has a lot of confidence that is has three six-rotation outside options to work with in <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='569767' first='Quinn' last='Nelson']</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='584598' first='Allison' last='Stakoe'] </strong>and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='587002' first='Cydnee' last='Speights']</strong>. Each has a lot of versatility in their play. Nelson has more length, at 6'0”, but each brings their own strengths. Stakoe and Speights have shown consistently that play well above their 5'9” listing due to their explosiveness and power.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Defensive Strength</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One area Legacy believes it should start the season off best is with its trio of defenders. The club feels this group can holds its own with any and should be able to dig up the best hitters in the nation. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='553151' first='Ashlyn' last='Pelon']</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='587009' first='Kaitlyn' last='Koceski']</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='511364' first='Taylor' last='Wilson'] </strong>make up the trio of DS/L options. Pelon was the libero for Marian this fall, getting a lot of big reps as a first-year varsity player. Koceski was a steady part of the Novi lineup, which also garners a lot of key experience. Wilson joins the team from Ohio's Anthony Wayne High School. She brings a lot to the table in her awareness and also her service ability.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Expectations</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>When experiencing the success that this group already has, expectations are understandably high for 2025. This team was a few points away from being able to compete for a national title in both AAU and USAV. With a strong base defensively, and a setter that has a proven track record to step up in big moments, it's hard to imagine Legacy 15-1 ADIDAS shouldn't be among the best of the best.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
