Even More 25s Available In 18 Club Blue Division Of CZ

Four separate division define the 18s age group at the Central Zone Invitational this coming weekend at the Indiana Convention Center. As we get closer to the 17s division for availability, we're finding more and more specific roles that these players can play. At this time of year, specific roles are probably what's needed the most as far as recruitment is concerned. Here are five athletes from five different clubs that have a special something in their game that makes them unique.    Listed as a defender, Morgan is a very serviceable setter that can easily be part of a 6-2 at the NAIA or D3 level. Her ability to get her feet to every single ball is her calling card, and that skill set can be applied to either position. Familiar with hard work and playing for a perennial top-five program in high school, Morgan can be found on COA's Panthers squad, probably doing a little of both setting and defending for her squad.     In possession of a state title after this fall, Samantha is listed as a middle, but will most likely project to a right side, three-rotation attacker who blocks well and is working on strength in her attacking. For now, her smart shots, serviceable serves and ability to make attackers think twice when hitting are traits that Miss Ford has owned for years. You can find Samantha on Empowered's 18 Onyx squad.     Springy and full of energy, Avanell is part of the rebranding of Southport into a volleyball school. Capable of the pass-to-attack skill set of your average outside hitter, Miss Traylor can be a primary passing, six-rotation outside at the D3 or NAIA levels. I like her shot-making abilities, her footwork to get her to the ball, and her smarts when the set isn't perfect.     Miss Claybaugh is a speedy and relentless defender that can play any of the three back row positions as either a regular three-rotation sub or a libero at a small school near you. I like her ability to read and react, as most defenders in this age bracket don't chase down with the relentlessness required to win. Now that I think about it, most of the defenders that are uncommitted at this age group have already moved away from the sport---not Samantha, who is more than capable of playing at the next level, but just needs an opportunity to be seen and evaluated with the right mindset.     As a three-year starter for Wapahani, Sophia has amassed over 900 kills and 600 digs in her illustrious career. Of the five listed in this article none are even close to the complete package that Miss Beeson has. She's a six-rotation, primary-passing outside hitter, with the ability to hit every shot in the book and has that "Delaware County" volleyball IQ that is unmatched from any other available outside in this graduating class.
