<p>One round of the MEPL has been completed and the second round is about to take place this weekend at the Academy Volleyball Club in Indianapolis, IN, plus KIVA Volleyball Center and MAVA in Louisville, KY. This league is composed of teams from Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan and Tennessee, amongst others, competing in age divisions of 12s, 13/14s, 15/16s and 17/18s. Some of the best clubs in both the region AND the nation compete in three weekend rounds, including KIVA, Munciana, Boiler Juniors and Academy, and many more. So, before the teams compete this weekend, let's get an update of where everyone stands and how the whole thing works.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">15/16s Division: Elite Pools, 18 Teams</h2>

<p>After starting their six team Elite Pools (EP1-3) on January 4th playing three matches, these clubs will finish out their pools today with two final matches. How they finish in their six team EPs will determine who they play on Saturday (2/1), when they will be regrouped into six pools of four teams each, after adding in one team who finishes the highest from each of the four team Open Pools (OP1-6; <em>see below</em>).</p>

<p>Currently there are are <strong>THREE UNDEFEATED TEAMS</strong> in the Elite Pools: <em>Lex United 16 Elite (EP1), Tri-State Elite 16 Blue (EP2) and Adidas KIVA 16 Red (EP3)</em>. <em>Adidas KIVA 15 Red and Munciana 15 Blue</em> are two 15u teams who are currently sitting at 2-1, looking to make a run at the other 16u teams.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">15/16s Division: Open Pools, 24 Teams</h2>

<p>The results of each four team Open Pool (OP1-6) were determined on 1/4 and each team will move on to different bracket play today depending on where they finished in the first round. The teams that finished first and second in their Open Pools will move on to the four team Open Bracket A (OPA) today to compete for a chance to move up to the Elite Pools tomorrow. Only those teams who finish in first or second today in their Open Brackets will be moved up and those who finish in third and fourth will be put into new Open Pools on Saturday (2/1) with the top finishing teams from the National Pools (<em>see below</em>).</p>

<p>The last division of the MEPL for this age group is the National Pools, which consists of 22 teams split into either three or four team pools (NP1-6). The highest finishing 16 teams from these pools on 1/4 will play today in National Brackets A & B (NBA & NBB), with the top six finishing teams in National Bracket A getting moved up to the Open Pools for Saturday (2/1). Everyone else will be regrouped into four, four team National Pools for Saturday.</p>
