PrepDig Resolution 2: Tournament Gems

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I always like to wrap up a tournament with a final shout out to what I call tournament gems. These players captured my attention for one reason or another...whether it was a particular play, set, game, or just an awesome tournament performance overall. She was very much the hot hand. Her team kept feeding her repeatedly and she delivered multiple kills. Goodman is a quick outside attacker with a fast swing. Clark preps at Luther where she played outside this past school season but at the PrepDig Resolution, she dominated the middle. Clark has quick footwork and a big, powerful swing. She is a powerful attacker, knows how to vary her shots between line and cross, and can also find the seams…and she exploited hte seams alot this weekend. Josephson ruled the back court with her quick first step, “no ball hits the floor” mentality, and the communication skills you seek in a libero. She is also consistent in her out of system sets. She delivered many exceptionally placed balls for her attackers that generated kills. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["745149"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-6792dbad88092"} --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Messner did a fabulous job leading her young team through pool and gold bracket play. She does a great job moving the ball around to get all of her hitters involved, has great back setting skills, and already sets with tempo. I especially liked how she moves in transition. She does a good job getting her feet underneath the ball so that she can deliver precise, clean sets. I intentionally saved her for my “gem” column as I think she is an up and coming setter with a long volleyball career ahead of her. She is quick, sets a clean ball, finds her middles, and can push it out to her pins. What sets her apart from many of the other setters I saw this weekend is that she also plays good right back defense and provides exceptional block coverage for her attackers. She is a well rounded setter that has a lot of potential. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
