Throughout the weekend I have a Google doc that I take notes in. Lots and lots of notes. Sometimes it can be overwhelming to look at after a weekend full of volleyball because there are so many awesome plays and matches. Some of the notes make it onto Twitter as well and others are saved for articles to come out shortly after. I love the Prep Dig Resolution tournament being so early in the club season because it gives you look at teams and players in a "before" stage. And then by the time we get to the Gauntlet and Nationals we see the beautiful transformation that is growth in the game! Here are some performances I think are worth talking about.

Wisconsin Elite 16-Elite

The Wisconsin Elite crew had some solid finishes across the first weekend of the Resolution. The 17-Elite had a solid 5th place finish in the Championship bracket of the 17/18 Club division. 16-Elite went on to finish 3rd in the 16 Open division. 18-Debbie took 7th in the Gold Bracket of 17/18 Open while 18-Elite won a barn burner to take the Silver bracket championship in 17/18 Open.

16 Elite has a couple of pins that seemed to jump out of the gym. [player_tooltip player_id='546467' first='Kenley' last='Didinsky'] is super fast and springy and she is really effective with a fast tempo ball to the pin. [player_tooltip player_id='736720' first='Addison' last='Zaleski'] is a lefty who swings from both pins and she is really smooth in transition. She is another springy athlete who takes an aggressive swing. Another athlete who impressed was [player_tooltip player_id='736714' first='Delaney' last='DiCastri'] out of the middle. She did a great job of getting in the air quickly with a fast arm working sharp angles. But all of these attackers would never have a chance if they didn't have their scrappy Libero, [player_tooltip player_id='736713' first='Willow' last='Braun']. She is everywhere and covers so much court.

[program_tooltip program_id='428662' first='Wisconsin' last='Ice'] 18 National

18 National was down a couple players but that didn't stop them from showing their grit and athleticism. They showcased UW-LaCrosse commit, [player_tooltip player_id='392835' first='Kailyn' last='Kurth'], in a 5-1 offense and she continues to keep the defense on their toes and the block's attention on her. She isn't afraid to call her own number to get the job done. Out of the middle Lawrence University commit, [player_tooltip player_id='522216' first='Grace' last='Huggenvik'], was doing a great job of nailing deep corners at just the right time. On the pins you could find Madison Edgewood commit, [player_tooltip player_id='178296' first='Sade' last='Partlow'], working some really smart angles while [player_tooltip player_id='180602' first='Cali' last='Eastling'] stayed aggressive on the net offensively and defensively. This group didn't get rattled in the tight matches and came out on top in multiple overtime sets.

[program_tooltip program_id='431537' first='Midwest' last='Penguins'] 16-Elite

Penguins had a really solid tournament as a program. Their 17-Elite won the 17/18 Open while their 16-Elite took the 16 Open division. I didn't get to see much of their 17's this weekend but I saw their 16-Elite a couple times and was very impressed with the likes of [player_tooltip player_id='510471' first='Ava' last='Sheppard']. She is a right side attacker who swings with a heavy arm to score a lot of points. The Penguins also got a lot of energy from their libero, Sage Christman, who was getting a ton of great defensive ups. She has such quick reactions on defense and whenever she is using her platform she is creating such clean angles to get the ball to her target.
