About Willow

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a high-motor libero who takes pride in first contact—serve receive and defense. I read hitters well, stay calm under pressure, and bring consistent ball control to keep our offense in system. I’m a vocal leader who competes every point and does the little things that win matches.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a fast, fearless competitor who loves pressure moments. As a team captain, I lead with my voice and my effort, holding myself and my teammates to a high standard. I stay poised, coachable, and focused on making the next play.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Yes—I was a Girl Scout and I currently volunteer at a local nature conservation center, helping with litter pickup, trail/grounds projects, and other conservation tasks. I enjoy giving back and being part of my community outside of volleyball.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Volleyball has helped me develop strong leadership and teamwork skills as a team captain. As a libero, I’ve learned how to communicate constantly, stay calm under pressure, and hold a high standard for effort and consistency. I’m disciplined and accountable—focused on preparation, film, and getting better every day. Through volunteering I've also built a service mindset and pride in giving back.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes. I faced a tough decision when I was offered a chance to join varsity soccer during playoffs right as I was preparing for final exams. I chose to turn it down so I could finish the semester strong and stay consistent with volleyball, which is my long-term passion. That experience taught me time management, perseverance, and the importance of making hard choices for future goals.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a strong Division I volleyball program at a larger university with lots of campus culture and school spirit. Academics and career preparation matter a lot to me—I want great internship opportunities and strong job placement after graduation. I’m open to different regions and am exploring the best overall fit.

Wisconsin Elite will have two teams in action for the 17/18 Open Division at the Winter Classic this weekend.  An athlete to watch would be libero Willow Braun Willow Braun Willow Braun 5'5" | DS/L Nicolet | 2027 State WI who is a 2027 libero who preps at Nicolet High School.  She has great anticipation where she beats the ball to the spot, yet maintains control.  From platform control to bringing calm to the chaos, she knows how to get the offense rolling while also putting up a clean second ball for her attackers out of system.

Braun was a beast in the back court today. She read the opposing team well and picked up numerous off speed shots and tips. Where she really excelled was in the coverage of her attackers. She gave her team several second chance attempts with her quick reaction. Due to her speed, Braun was also able to track down out of system passes and make several saves.

Willow Braun was a standout for her Nicolet High School team wearing the libero jersey and leading her team in receptions, digs, and an outstanding 4.2 digs/set this past fall. Speed is her game. She is super quick and can track down everything from out of system balls to perfectly placed tips. She also covers her hitters very well. Braun is headed to Wisconsin Elite this club season and will likely catch the attention of many.
