I started scouring in 2020, and it took me a while to respect and enjoy the club volleyball scene. However, one thing I love about club ball is it allows me to watch younger athletes compete at high levels.

Some young athletes get buried on large school rosters, but get a chance to shine during the club season.

While scouting the Shockwave 15-2 and the Topeka Saints 15-2 match Saturday in Lawrence, I watched four young prospects from familiar high schools for the first time,

Here is the final report from the 15U Power League Pre-Qualifier action from Lawrence. It is a look at five prospects on the Topeka Saints 15-2 roster. Four of them were unranked athletes that I saw play for the first time.

Alli Jo Henry, 5'8”, OH, Nemaha Central, ‘28

Henry is currently ranked No. 23 overall in the Kansas Class of 2028. I have seen her play a ton of ball and she never disappoints. She is a six-rotation athlete for both her high school and club teams. She recorded four kills, four digs, and 10 serve receptions in the loss to Shockwave.

[player_tooltip player_id='739235' first='Lydia' last='Dreher'], 5'9”, MH, Seaman, ‘28

Dreher is a physical specimen who looks like she could play linebacker for the Vikings' football team. Seaman is one of about five Kansas programs in the Northeast with athletes scattered all over the club scene. She finished two kills, two digs, and seven serve receptions. She is an athlete now firmly planted on my scouting radar.

[player_tooltip player_id='739229' first='Avery' last='Holthaus'], 5'9”, OH, Hayden, ‘28

Hayden was loaded with freshman talent and finished third in the State Tournament last season. A player I did not see play last fall was Holthaus. She is explosive and plays well at the net. She had three kills for the Saints which is a team deep on the front row.

[player_tooltip player_id='739227' first='Nya' last='Moss'], 5'9”, RS, Hayden, ‘28

Moss was another Hayden prospect new to me. She is all arms and has a big reach. She did not play much during the first set of the match but did some damage in the second. Moss recorded one kill, one dig, and three serve receptions.

[player_tooltip player_id='739225' first='Makenna' last='Lee'], 5'7”, S, Washburn Rural, ‘28

Lee is a solid athlete. I did not start off tracking her assists, but about midway through the match, her play started to stand out. She is a setter on the tall side who could be used as a six-rotation athlete in the future. Rural is one of the programs that is deep and has players all over the club scene playing at different levels.
