It's been a very impressive start to the 2025 club season for Legacy 15-1 ADIDAS.

Through three events, Legacy has finished top-3 in all of them, including a win in The Nike Classic, a runner-up finish in the Central Zone Invite and a third-place finish at Triple Crown last weekend.

It's clear this 15U roster is among the best in the country.

When breaking down the success, it seems clear that this team comes down to simple ABC's.

A is for Attack

Legacy isn't lacking in capable hitters and they have great power and tempo for a 15U squad. They also have a lot of flexibility in the roster, as multiple players can move from the middle to the outside and vice versa. Just last weekend, a variety of hitters got on a real roll at different times. [player_tooltip player_id='569772' first='Lauren' last='Sheldon'] can dominate at the middle or the outside, while [player_tooltip player_id='569767' first='Quinn' last='Nelson'] is a power arm on the pin that uses her length really well. [player_tooltip player_id='587009' first='Kaitlyn' last='Koceski'] is a polished all-around talent that has one of the best back-row attacks in the class. Then mix in an explosive option like [player_tooltip player_id='587002' first='Cydnee' last='Speights'], as well as potent middles [player_tooltip player_id='569766' first='McKenzie' last='Andrews'] and [player_tooltip player_id='584595' first='Jamie' last='Smith'], and it's nearly impossible to slow this offense down.

B is for Blocking

When you have a 6'5” middle on the roster, especially at the 15U level, that's a big strength. Andrews is an unstoppable force with her play, whether it be her powerful swings, or her relentless blocking. Her length can't be prepared for, especially when you mix in how agile she is. Andrews isn't there just to take up space, she shows really good footwork and reads the play well. Her anticipation allows her to slow down opposing offenses and make life easier for her talented defenders.

C is for Captain – [player_tooltip player_id='574175' first='Payton' last='Woodruff']

It's not easy to say one player is a captain of such a talented team, but Woodruff has certainly earned that honor. You won't find a setter in this class that plays with much more maturity and composure than her. It showed during the prep season when she led Detroit Country Day to its first state championship, and it continues to show this club season. While some may say Woodruff is undersized at 5'9”, that hasn't been a hinderance in the slightest to her success on the court. Results and consistency in play should trump being a few inches shorter than other setters. Woodruff has all the tools and is getting better each week. There's no telling just how far she can go in the next three years.
