The Captain dived into Prep Dig's “Coverage Counter” and found a group of Kansas prospects long overdue to be featured.

Here are five athletes who have not been featured since the latest round of rankings updates.

[player_tooltip player_id='524466' first='Regan' last='Widener'], 5'10”, OH, Ellinwood, ‘26

Ellinwood's Widener is the first prospect to be highlighted by the Captain. She finished her junior season with 234 kills in 102 sets. She has 571 total kills in three prep seasons. Widener also recorded 50 blocks last season and has 125 blocks after three seasons. She is currently ranked No. 53 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026.

[player_tooltip player_id='489787' first='Sophia' last='Smith'], 5'11”, MB, Bishop Carroll, ‘26

Smith is ranked No. 65 overall by Prep Dig Kansas. She more than doubled her kill total from her sophomore and junior seasons. As a junior, she finished with 192 kills in 87 sets for the Golden Eagles. She also registered 72 blocks for Bishop Carroll. She played primarily on the front row last season.

[player_tooltip player_id='446316' first='Cayten' last='Cummings'], 5'10”, OH/S, Yates Center, ‘27

Yates Center is a tough school for me to get to, but I have seen Cummings play club ball. She finished her sophomore season with 287 kills in 81 sets. She recorded 178 kills in 85 sets as a freshman. Cummings is a versatile athlete who can play all over the court. She has totals of 401 assists, 426 digs, and 110 aces over two seasons for the Wildcats.

[player_tooltip player_id='446321' first='Madison' last='Maximuk'], 6'0”, MB, Blue Valley, ‘27

Maximuk is ranked No. 41 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027. She finished her sophomore season with 151 kills for the Tiger as a junior. She also recorded an impressive total of 54 blocks in 72 sets played. Blue Valley was one of the Metro Area schools that I missed seeing last fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='518349' first='Sanaa' last='Woodberry'], 5'8”, RS, Olathe West, ‘28

Woodberry is an interesting prospect. She did not play varsity last season for the Owls but plays for an elite club team. The next couple of seasons will be key for her to show what she has on the court. I watched one of her video packages from the current club season and was impressed with her approach and power. She has a big reach and looks taller than 5-foot-8 on film.
