Uncommitted Liberos/Defensive Specialist to Watch

As the talent of volleyball in Arkansas continues to rise, Arkansas will continue to produce some top notch Liberos and Defensive Specialist. Volleyball is heading into the qualifier season following a lot of local Arkansas tournaments showcasing some of the top talents in Arkansas. Liberos are known for their quick reactions, high volleyball IQ, and exceptional defense. These players have proven to be game changers on the court with their ability to read the opposing teams hitters.    Williamson is the leader of her [program_tooltip program_id='581540' first='501' last='Volley'] 17.1 national team. Her high energy and being an aggressive Libero creates plays that set her team up for success. Her serve receive is top notch as she can read the serve off the opponents hand. Being able to read the serve gives her time to be ready for short or deep serves. On top of being a great defender, her out of system setting to the pins were near perfect. There is no out of system on this team when Williamson is able to take the second ball to set up her hitters. Williamson also has an impressive hard float serve that barely skims the top of the net throwing off the opposing defense.     Kensey Nichols is a part of the very strong CJV 17 National team. Her ability to read the attackers hand creates opportunities for perfect passes, setting her team up for success. Her serve receive is quite impressive as there was hardly a moment where she did not put the ball right in her setters hands. Kensey Nichols and Braylin Merritt being in the back row is an elite defense making it very difficult for opposing teams to put the ball down. Kensey opens her body up really well to deep serves to keep the ball in front of her body, which gives her more perfect passes.     Merritt plays up an age group on CJV 17 National and is probably one of the most impressive liberos I've seen in Arkansas. Merritt takes any ball she can get her hands on. Merritt's serve receive was highly impressive taking both seams. Merritt is one of the most difficult liberos to get a ball passed. Her coverage saved her hitters from getting blocked because she was there to pick up everything. Braylin makes the impossible, possible. Braylin was also successful at the service line with her float serve dropping in front of the opposing back row.     Though only being a freshman, Thompson is among the most consistent and aggressive Liberos in Arkansas. Not many blockers leave line open for the opposing Right side attackers, but this Ozark 15 Mizuno team trust Thompson to pick up any line shot. Thompson keeps a wide base anticipating the tip. Thompson reads the opposing hitters really well based on their hand, shoulders, and the block. Out of system sets from Thompson were quite impressive to her pins. Thompson is one of those Liberos that reacts before they think, making her really impressive to watch.     Simmons is a very scrappy libero that will lay out everything to pick up a ball. It is quite impressive how quick she moves her feet for tips and deep balls. Simmons does a great job at taking every free ball and taking each seam in serve receive. Her great serve receive can be credited by the angles she uses when passing the ball. Her vision of reading the attackers gave her the advantage of moving before the ball crosses the net. Simmons is a player that can make impossible plays into game changing plays.
