2027 Setters That Are Undervalued
In this article:
The Class of 2027 has a lot of promising setting prospects that are already drawing a lot of attention at the national level.
Here's a look at five that have put together some good film and may be undervalued in this talented class.

Kate Belt

has some really good deception at the net. She's able to turn on the ball very suddenly to make a dump, or even go with a full swing. She looks like she plays an aggressive style on film and that is exciting to see if you are a college coach, someone willing to test their skills and see what they are capable of. As of now, Belt looks to be capable of being a great on-court leader and decision-maker.

is a well-rounded setter that does good things in all phases of the game. She may not have the length as some of her peers, or the quickness as some of the others, but she plays with a lot of composure and is technically sound. She hits her spots and gets good swings out of her hitters, while also making good defensive choices and bringing a potent serve to the floor.

Another setter/hitter combo in this class,
Lindsey Schwegman

does a really nice job of adapting to the play. As a hitter, she can put a good amount of force on an out-of-system ball, still able to attack tough angles. As a setter, she's able to get a good feed out of a tough pass. Schwegman plays with a lot of instinct and often makes good decisions.

has had the ability to play alongside some great hitters, which has helped elevate her play at a rapid pace. Wilcox is doing a nice job of mixing up locations and has worked hard on knowing when to call her own number. Her tempo is improving with each match and practice. In the years ahead, Wilcox should become a confident leader that teams can rely on to make good decisions on the floor.
