Liberos Hard to Beat at the Nike Cross Court Classic

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the biggest club tournaments annually held in Houston, the Nike Cross Court Classic is just around the corner, with the 2025 edition of the event set to take place this weekend, from Saturday to Sunday, at the George R Brown Convention Center, in Downtown.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Cross Court Classic is a gigantic event, which registered over 700 entries this year and will have teams from all over Texas and many neighboring states competing for two days in one of its 30 divisions.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Dig Texas will be following the action closely during the weekend and reporting on the top teams and most exciting prospects, but, before we get there, let's get to know some of the most talented players who will be in action. She's extremely mobile and agile on the backcourt, benefiting from her ability to read opponents to anticipate plays and get into great spots to get digs. Sundbeck's superior technique also allows her to make digs outside of her body with tremendous efficiency. She joined the club this season, coming from Texas Legacy, and immediately boosted their back row with her highly productive game. Cockrill is among the best defenders in her age group in the Houston area, appearing very well on the back row with her great movement and outstanding ball control. She's also an elite passer, who covers a lot of ground and remains consistent with her deliveries. The libero makes a major impact in serve-receive, taking most of the court to herself and even covering her teammates when they are in trouble. Patton also comes up big with her digs at the left back position, remaining active while opponents attempt to score on her team and keeping everything that goes into her zone off the floor. Despite playing up with the team, she's the anchor of their defensive system, giving the team a lot of stability when trying to keep the ball off the floor. Cotten is a very technical libero, who has all the tools to control whichever swings come her way, and she'll do everything in her power to keep the ball off the floor, grinding to cover every inch in the back row.
