We are half way through the 2024-2025 club season. Many local and regional teams are finishing up their tournament schedules while national teams will continue through June or July depending on whether they end on the big stage in Florida, Texas, or Utah this season. While we have been heavily covering the 2025-2028s, there have been some 2029s that have caught my attention for a variety of reasons. Some individually play up a level, others will play their team up a level in a tournament, and sometimes, well, I just like to see what up and coming talent is out there and have found myself watching their courts. The following 2029's are ones to keep tabs on as they definitely are already displaying some big time talent.

Voss is one of those players that I couldn't believe was a 2029 when I saw her play. Already leaps and bounds ahead of others in the same grade, I have been following her ever since. Voss is straight up a gamer. She basically can play any position and does it well. She sets, hits from the pins, and attacks and blocks from the middle. In addition to enhanced mechanics, Voss also has crazy skills when it comes to court awareness, reading the floor, and just understanding the games, strategy and concepts.

Ginder is a scrappy libero with a ton of potential. She reads the court well and isn't afraid to sacrifice her body when diving for balls. She consistently seems to come up with great digs and one handed saves on the court. In addition to being scrappy on the court, Ginder also is solid in serve receive for such a young player. She anticipates the ball well, moves her feet, and creates good angles to deliver balls to target.

Yager has the potential to be a stand out middle blocker. She has the height, speed, and ability to read, adjust, and adapt to the play. She also has a big reach with excellent control that makes her electric for both attacking and blocking as she seems to be able to get her hands on nearly anything that is sent her way. One of the things that sets Yager apart from other middles in her class is that she has the ability to read the court and deliver hard attacks to both sides of the court. She varies her shot making it hard for defenses to keep up and adapt to her.

I love lefty attackers so I was definitely captivated the first time I saw Tollefson take a big swing from the right pin. Tollefson has quick footwork and a big, explosive approach that allows her to deliver hard cross and line shots with power. She is a go to attacker for her team and they rely on her to generate big kills to get out of tense situations. Tollefson is also a solid defender. I was impressed with both her blocking and off blocker defense.

Faber is a 6 rotation outside that made the varsity roster as an 8th grader. It should be no surprise then that she is having a solid club season as she heads into high school in the fall. I watched Faber play last month at a tournament in Iowa and I was impressed with the many things that she does well. She moves well in serve receive, plays good defense, and is always ready to be an attack option whether in the front or back court. She is a versatile attacker in general. She reads the block in front of her well and knows when to take big hard shots or when to roll or tip the ball to score.

I watched Lane play recently and was impressed with her vertical, explosiveness to the pin, and ability to adjust to the set. She is one of those outsides that will take whatever set is sent her way, adjust, and find a way to generate points for her team. She also reads the block in front of her well, can find the seam, will go up and over the block, or will score points by banging it off the blockers hands. Lane is also bold when it comes to out of system swings. I was impressed with her timing and ability to take big swings on the out of system balls as well.

Krebs is a strong, versatile middle with a wicked fast arms swing. She makes efficient movements on the court and then uses her lightening fast arm swing to hit a wide range of shots. She can already power down kills by attacking the quick ball out of the middle, hitting tempo on the 3, and generating kills off the slide. Krebs is also a force as a blocker already. She keeps in control of her movements, has good lateral footwork, and is disciplined in her hand placement allowing her to be a blocking force on defense.
