Multi-Sport Prospects: Butler Adds Dual Sport Athlete

One of the multi-sport athletes in Kansas has made her college choice and will make it official later today at Andover High School.

Here is a look at four prospects ranked by both Prep Dig and Prep Girls Hoops, including one headed to college to play both sports.

[player_tooltip player_id='493419' first='Aliyah' last='Green'], 6'1”, MB, Andover, '25 (Butler CC)

Not only is Green a dual-sport prospect, but she is signing today to play both college volleyball and basketball. She is super athletic and is ranked by both Prep Dig and Prep Girls Hoops. She is a hitting machine on the volleyball court and a premium glass cleaner on the basketball court. After flirtations with Oklahoma State and Pittsburg State, she is signing to play both sports for the Butler Grizzlies. She will be spending a ton of time on the El Dorado campus and in the Power Plant.

[player_tooltip player_id='513606' first='Hailey' last='Schmidtlein'], 6'0”, MB/OH, Hayden, ‘28

Hayden's win last night is my loss this weekend. Schmidtlein is the No. 1-ranked athlete by Prep Dig in the Kansas Class of 2028. She is also ranked No. 11 by Prep Girls Hoops Kansas. Hayden advanced to a Class 4A Sub-State with a 53-17 win over Chanute last night. Hayden will host Baldwin on Saturday, which means I don't get to see Schmidtlein play with her Topeka Saints 15U Power League team in Kansas City this weekend. Schmidtlein is a special athlete who can dominate in the paint and at the net.

[player_tooltip player_id='523621' first='Lexi' last='Hecht'], 5'8”, OH, Wamego, ‘26

Hect is another natural athlete who excels at both volleyball and basketball. She is a fast guard who takes care of the ball and can score from three levels. Wamego has advanced to a Class 4A Sub-State final and will travel to Eudora on Saturday. As a volleyball player, she is a six-rotation hitter who can also play solid defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='530332' first='Reece' last='Stickney'], 5'6”, OH, Ellinwood, 27

Ellinwood's Stickney is ranked No. 97 by Prep Dig and No. 112 on Prep Girls Hoops. She is scoring 16.6 points per game and grabbing 5.9 rebounds per contest. She is an impressive back-row player for the Eagles. She finished with 202 digs during his sophomore campaign. Ellinwood defeated Stanton County 37-36 to advance to the Class 2A Sublette Sub-State Final. The Eagles will face off against Phillipsburg on March 8.
