Dynamic Texas right sides at the Salt Lake City Showdown

Club volleyball teams from all over the country will have yet another opportunity to secure a spot in the USA Volleyball Girls National Championship over the next few days, when the first week of action of the Salt Lake City Showdown will be held.   The tournament will feature 13 divisions in four different age groups, driving over 550 teams from around the US to the Salt Palace Convention Center for three days of action.   Prep Dig will be running a showcase the day before the start of the event, so if you are going to be there, <a href="https://prepdig.com/all-events/?type=Showcase">register now</a>!   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2025/03/Screenshot-2025-03-26-at-10.15.22-AM.png?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-763125" style="width:446px;height:auto" /></figure>   Many Texas teams will make the trip Northwest and some of the top prospects in the Lone Star State will hit the court in Utah as they try to help their teams secure a bid. Let's look into some of the most exciting players who will be in action this weekend - today, we get to the last position, the right side hitters:    Blue will be with the STVA 16 Mizuno team in the tournament's 16 Open division. She doubles up as a right side and middle for them and brings some nice physicality and firepower for the team at the net. She has a good deal of versatility in her offense, being capable of hitting quick and higher sets with great efficiency thanks to her ability of finding nice angles in her swings. A technical and intelligent hitter, she serves as one of the team's main scoring options, diplaying the ability to put the ball down from both the left and the right. Moran uses her lenght extremely well to beat opposing blockers, but it's her court vision that sets her apart as it allows her to score with well-placed shots while also keeping her errors low. Her footwork is another positive aspect of her game and it allows her to be ready to swing in transitions plays.      Pratt will help her team TAV Black 16 Jason face the challenges of the 16 Open division in Salt Lake City. A lefty with an incredible offensive range, she can be unstoppable on the right when she gets into a rhythm. When making her approach, Pratt typically puts a lot of energy into her final step, which allows her to get off the floor well and to put a lot of pressure on the ball when she makes contact with it. Pratt is very productive when hitting a quicker set on the right, but also does well in out-of-system plays, using her lenght to overcome opposing blockers. An extremely explosive hitter, she can score at a high volume, appearing well on the right and the left when up at the net - she can also help in the middle if needed. She uses her size extremely well at the net and can put the ball down in a variety of ways, be it by overpowering blockers and defenders or by sending into tin the right spot. Lacewell, who's very consistent with her game, also contributes with her blocking, going high up at the net and pressing opposing hitters with great efficiency.      Udoye is one of the stars of the strong Austin Skyline 17 Royal team that will get on the court in the 17 Open division this weekend. Originally an outside hitter, she made the move to the right this season in order to better accomodate the numerous pin hitters in the squad and has been showing great promise there as well. With her athleticism and excellent decision-making, Udoye has been very prolific offensively, playing a central role in the team's scoring efforts. She's also very versatile, being capable of putting the ball down from any position - she's been geetting a few sets in the mdidle this season as well. Udoye is also a very good blocker and has the ability to step in and help on serve-receive if needed as well.
