Show Me Qualifier: Texas Setters Who Can Make a Difference

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>BID season continues at full pace and, with the USAV Girls Junior National Championship just over two months away, club volleyball teams from Texas continue to add significant mileage to their loyalty cards as they travel around the country to compete in National Qualifiers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This weekend, the destination for many of them will be Kansas City, where one of the most popular events of the club season, the Show Me Qualifier, is set to take place from Saturday to Monday.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Over 750 teams from all over the country are set to compete across the ten divisions in the 15s, 16s, and 17s age groups, and among them are several Texas teams. To describe her as the team setter would probably be an understatement, considering everything she does for them. Edwards thrives in her playmaking role as she's both very technical, consistently getting her hitters in good position to score thanks to her accuracy, and intelligent, making great choices with her distribution and successfully finding ways to elude opposing blockers with her moves. She's been playing outside hitter more often this season and has been an integral part of their offense with her ability to put the ball down with powerful swings. When doubling up as a setter, Stephens shows why she's one of the best in the business, displaying technique, consistency and a high volleyball IQ to guide her team's offense with tremendous success. She combines length and technical skills in a way that not many other players in the position too and is a real difference-maker for her team. One of the strengths of Tredwell's playmaking is her ability to repeat the same body shape every single time she gets on the ball, giving opposing blockers little to no clues of where she's going to set. That's only possible because of how well she uses her wrists to determine the direction and the distance of her sets. She's been among the best setters in the entire state in her age group for a few years, but recently made a big leap in our Prep Dig State Rankings, showing that despite performing at a high level for quite some time, she's still been consistently improving. Bello is an excellent all-around player, whose technical and physical skills and volleyball IQ allow her to perform any action on the court at a very high level. As a setter, she thrives with her ability to cover ground and move extremely well on the court, while also having an incredibly clean touch on the ball.
