Strong Texas pin hitters at the Salt Lake City Showdown

Club volleyball teams from all over the country will have yet another opportunity to secure a spot in the USA Volleyball Girls National Championship over the next few days, when the first week of action of the Salt Lake City Showdown will be held.   The tournament will feature 13 divisions in four different age groups, driving over 550 teams from around the US to the Salt Palace Convention Center for three days of action.   Prep Dig will be running a showcase the day before the start of the event, so if you are going to be there, <a href="https://prepdig.com/all-events/?type=Showcase">register now</a>!   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2025/03/Screenshot-2025-03-26-at-10.15.22-AM.png?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-763125" style="width:446px;height:auto" /></figure>   Many Texas teams will make the trip Northwest and some of the top prospects in the Lone Star State will hit the court in Utah as they try to help their teams secure a bid. Let's look into some of the most exciting players who will be in action this weekend, this time focusing on the outside hitters:    Solomon will be with the [program_tooltip program_id='745880' first='Houston' last='Stellar'] 16 Elite team that will appear in the 16 USA division in Utah. A very athletic outside hitter, she's one of the team's main scoring options and does a great job of using her power to overcome opposing blockers and put the ball down from the left and thr right. Solomon, who's also very active and efficient with her blocking, is very resourceful offensively and frequently uses tips or tools the block to score when in difficult situation. The pin hitter developed into an elite backcourt player, handling her passing duties extrmely well and getting several touches on defense.      Randle and her SA Juniors 16 Adidas side are entered to play in the 16 USA division this weekend. Expect her to be one the most explosive and powerful hitters in the division and to play a central role in her team's offense. Randle uses her length extremely well to get the edge over opposing blockers and is a terrific jumper as well, which gives those trying to stop her at the net little hope of accomplishing it. She developed her offense quite well in recent years and became even more lethal with her ability to hit quick sets on both pins and the middle, making the task of blocking her even more complicated. Randle, who's also a very good blocker, has become more comfortable with her passing too and can now consistently contribute in that area of the game.    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKWEdUme32Q </div></figure>    Scott will represent the KVA 17 Nike team that will be in action the 17 Liberty division. A very technical player, she gives her team great defensive volume with her ability to pass at a high level and produce on defense. Scott also holds her own at the net, finding difficult angles for her swings and open spots to her tips and shots. Because of her visionn, she's capable of scoring at a good clip and keeping errors low in out-of-system plays.      Robinson will appear for the [program_tooltip program_id='510661' first='Houston' last='Skyline'] 17 Royal team that will contend in the 17 Open division. An incredibly tall and athletic player, she should be one of the top offensive players in the entire event as not many others have her ability to score from anywhere on the court. Robinson makes great use of her contact point, but is also very intelligent with her shot selection and makes very few errors. She's probably one of the top blockers to see the court in Salt Lake City and right side hitters going against her should think twice before swinging hard. The dynamic and well-rounded outside hitter is a key cog in the team's playing system, contributing on both sides of the ball. She's an offensive force for the team, using her impressive ability to get off the floor and her quick, heavy and skilled right arm to score in a variety of ways. Crayton likes to swing a shorter set near the middle that gives opposing blockers little chance to adjust and get in her way. Because she's so well-versed on the backcourt as well, she stands out as an utility player, who has the tools and is always ready to deliver whatever her teams needs from her.
