Greenwood volleyball isn't slowing down anytime soon and Club Velocity 12-1 is proof. Made up entirely of young Greenwood athletes, this team has carried their school chemistry straight into the club season, turning heads with their grit, energy, and all-out hustle. Whether it's a scrappy rally or a dominant run, they play with the kind of confidence and connection that can't be coached. Titletown might just be building its next chapter and it's starting here.

Continuing Tradition with BIG Names

The team features several familiar names that are continuing Greenwood's volleyball tradition in a big way. Harper Golden, daughter of Greenwood head coach Jennifer Golden and Club Velocity 12-1 head coach Tim Golden, brings a natural leadership presence and strong fundamentals to the court. Golden has continued to grow in height over the past few years, pairing her physical development with a strong foundation of skills and court awareness. Maci Dickinson, the younger sister of senior standout Ella Dickinson, is carving her own path with a dynamic all-around game and impressive vertical. Kenna Buckner, daughter of beloved Greenwood teacher and Club Velocity 12-1's Assistant Coach Jodi Buckner, adds grit and consistency, helping anchor a squad that's as connected off the court as they are on it.

The strength of this 12-1 team lies not only in their individual talents but in their collective desire to grow. Courtney Carey, Abigail Iames, and Bentley Pippin stand out with a solid foundation and an unwavering eagerness to improve. Their dedication to refining their skills, both in practice and during games, makes them vital contributors to the team's success. Courtney's high volleyball IQ, Abigail's relentless drive, and Bentley's presence on the court all reflect their commitment to constantly improve. The rest of the roster shines just as brightly. Aly Beshears, Charlee Copeland, and Popplyn Roberts combine solid fundamentals with impressive athleticism, proving to be coachable on the court. Their adaptability and work ethic make them standout players, as they each bring something unique to the team. With their strong foundation, natural talent, and willingness to learn, this entire squad is assured for even greater accomplishments in the future.

BIG Wins by Small Players

Despite their age and size, this group of athletes has made a strong impact in the volleyball community. Recently, they earned the 12 Club Champion medal at the Lone Star Classic in Dallas, Texas. In addition to this, Club Velocity 12-1 has brought home other notable medals. In February, they took second place at the February Fiesta, and in January, they also finished second at the Redlands Rendezvous. This group has consistently made strong runs and secured high placements throughout the club season, showcasing their talent and teamwork at every turn. The last time Greenwood had a group of athletes who played together for several years and had Tim Golden as their coach, they won something truly special—a State Championship victory with a dominant 3-0 sweep. This current squad is determined to follow in those footsteps, proving that the tradition of excellence in Greenwood volleyball is very much alive.

A Biased Perspective: The Coaching Legacy of Tim and Jennifer Golden

As the author, I'll admit I might be a little biased when it comes to the coaching of Tim and Jennifer Golden. Having played under both coaches, I've seen firsthand the incredible impact they have—not just on the volleyball court, but on their athletes' lives. Tim's strategic mind and relentless drive to push athletes beyond their limits are invaluable, but it's Jennifer's unique ability to connect with players that truly sets her apart. As a former collegiate player, Jennifer brings a wealth of experience and insight, and her background allows her to understand the intricacies of the game at a deep level. Tim and Jennifer aren't just developing volleyball players; they shape young people, instilling confidence, leadership, and a strong work ethic. Both coaches foster an environment where growth extends beyond the sport, emphasizing character development and the importance of hard work, discipline, and perseverance. Their influence has been transformative, and it's clear that the athletes who've been mentored by them are not only better players, but also better individuals.

With the school season just months away, we'll begin spotlighting high school programs, making predictions, and highlighting standout players across Arkansas. Feel free to send insights, film, and more to Hannah Watkins via Instagram at @prepdighannah or via email at hannahwatkinsvball@gmail.com.
