PD WI Sizzle Filling Fast – Who’s Coming?
Our Prep Dg Sizzle is back for 2025 featuring some of the state's top programs set to compete at the Community First Champion Center in Appleton.
We have 36 teams strong registers as of May 5, 2025 with spots remaining for 12 more teams.
A little history behind the Prep Dig Sizzle. This event came about with a lot of unknown in the summer of 2020. Teams didn't know when they would have a high school season or even if they would have a high school season. Prep Dig worked in great detail with the Community First Champion Center in providing a very structured plan to run a summer high school tournament with health and safety at the forefront. We had roster limitations, coach limitations, and no spectators. At the end of the day we just wanted to play volleyball.
In 2021, we saw an expanded field in the JV Division as well as varsity with multiple teams competing who would then find themselves playing in the state tournament that November. We developed the structure based on teams getting a chance to play against others who they typically wouldn't see in the regular season. Matchups of Northwest Wisconsin vs. Southeast Wisconsin, big schools versus small schools, and now we have out of state teams coming to the field.
Format:
Day 1
Teams will be in a pool of four that will be round robin style. We make these pools based on competition level as well as avoiding conference matchups. We know a lot of these teams are playing in the same summer league and are from the same conference. We do our best to avoid conference matchups - especially on day one.
Day 2
There will be two waves of play. One will start at 9:30 and wave two will begin at 1:30. We do our best to accommodate those teams who are traveling the furthest and spending the night. From there, we place teams into brackets of eight, naming the brackets based on USA National Team members and Wisconsin legends. We will take into account competition level and doing our best to avoid conference matchups.
