In a talented Class of 2027, Southwest Michigan isn't lacking in key members.

The area is chalk full of promising players that could emerge as the state's best.

Here's Part 1 of a 2-part look at Southwest Michigan's impressive 2027 talent.

[player_tooltip player_id='550488' first='Ella' last='Baker'], DS/L Lakeshore/Dunes

Baker stands 5'3” and that keeps her low to the ground in the back row. She's able to make picturesque digs on some challenging attacks thanks to her ability to anticipate and be in position. Baker's sported the libero jersey at the varsity level, which means she's already faced some high-pressure situations.

[player_tooltip player_id='490371' first='Brooklynn' last='Brassard'], OH Mattawan/FaR Out

Brassard is a really explosive outsides in the area and has the potential to climb up the rankings in this class over the next year. She's got a great approach to the net and covers a lot of space with her hangtime. Her swing looks technically smooth, which allows her to deliver some very powerful attacks. Defensively, Brassard is capable of making some challenging digs.

[player_tooltip player_id='511596' first='Brooklyn' last='Closson'], S Coldwater/Team Pineapple

Closson has shown the ability to impact the game in all phases, as she's an impressive defender along with being a setter on the rise. Closson shows natural leadership ability on the floor and isn't afraid to take some bumps and bruises to make a play for her team. Her setting, defense, and serving are improving each month.

[player_tooltip player_id='490373' first='Kate' last='Colosky'], MB Portage Central/FaR Out

The 6-foot middle has really pushed herself to become one of the top middles in the class heading into a big fall season. She's got a lot of explosiveness off the floor and knows how to swing down hard over the ball to make for lightning-fast kills. Colosky has taken her killer instinct up a level.

Addison Dzwik, S/RS St. Philip

Dzwik could be another great powerhouse player in Division 4 for St. Philip. She's a setter/hitter combo that plays with a lot of intensity and leadership. She makes great reads mid-rally and knows when she needs to take control of a point herself. With her mentality already at a high level, Dzwik just needs to keep adding details to her play to keep improving her stock.

Ella Laskowski, OH Edwardsburg/NIVA

Laskowski has shown the ability to play anywhere along the net. She's got good form from the pins or the middle, as her swing shifts into another gear at the last second to generate strong and consistent power. Laskowski also does a good job of taking what she gets from her setters and passers and making the most of it.

[player_tooltip player_id='742021' first='Addison' last='Naplin'], OH/MB Vicksburg/FaR Out

Naplin can play anywhere along the net. From the middle, she does a great job of high-pointing the ball and generating attacks that come at sharp angles. On the outside, Naplin has a smooth approach and a technically sound swing. She's getting better at picking up her pace of play and becoming more instinctual on the court.
