We are at the Claremore Super Scrimmage this week. It is the largest varsity event in the state with 31 varsity teams competing. 21 of those teams are on the Claremore campus and the other 10 are at the Verdigris Activity Center. The goal was to create an event that is completely free for kids to get college exposure, while also doing something most schools already do, scrimmage. It also creates an opportunity for colleges to see a ton of players within a single event, therefore more worthwhile for them to attend. A win win win scenario. Let's take a look at 6 special players.

Kennedy Roecker- 2029 OH for Bishop Kelley. This was the first time getting to see Kennedy play and what a freshman they got with her. You read it here first, she will be REALLY good in the very near future. She has a very mature, smooth and powerful approach. She will gain more control and add to her hitting range in the coming season. At that point, watch out for her and BK!

[player_tooltip player_id='666302' first='Addison' last='Doyle']- 2027 MB for Claremore. Addison ran a mean up tempo "31". If the opposing middle didn't commit block, it was almost curtains for that ball. She also got on several serving runs, which she has developed over the past year. Club season greatly impacted her back row play, she is digging and attacking well when she rotates back. This just adds to her overall value she can bring to a college program.

[player_tooltip player_id='757028' first='Makiyah' last='Skinner']- 2027 Setter for Duncan. Makiyah is an athlete. What she lacks in technical skill she makes up for in IQ and natural talent. She made some really sneaky good sets happen out of thin air. She also tracked down all sorts of passes to keep balls alive and give her hitters a chance. I was impressed with how much she has grown in the last full year.

[player_tooltip player_id='745098' first='Kristen' last='Straughn']- 2026 Setter for Moore. The Lions ran a 5-1 with Kristen and boy can she sling it. I would also love to see the stats on how many kills she racked up even as the setter. Multiple very deceptive attacks that left defenses stunned. MACU is definitely getting a good one next season. We will need to move her up in our rankings this next round!

[player_tooltip player_id='750953' first='Caitlyn' last='Mabie']- 2027 DS for Carl Albert. Caitlyn is the cornerstone of this Titan team. She flies around and keeps the ball alive in all sorts of ways. She reads servers well and begins to make her movement even before contact. Look for her to have another solid school season and upcoming club season.

[player_tooltip player_id='828398' first='Elise' last='Grim']- 2026 MB for Bishop McGuinness. O M G! Elise got a hold of a few balls while I was watching and they almost needed to stop play and repair the floor. The passers on the other side were only able to watch as the ball landed several feet in front of them at a very high speed. After day 1, her coach had nothing but amazing things to say about her as a player and a teammate. "Shes the person every team needs. She's competitive, works hard and lifts everybody up."

We are looking forward to day 2 of the Claremore Super Scrimmage! Good luck to all of those in the midst of trying out for club this week!
