September Slam Day One Notable Players

The number for this year is 10 with the 9th, 10th, 11th and 14th Regions represented this year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The teams that won both games Friday meet at 9 a.m. Saturday. That features host Scott and Montgomery County on court one and Holy Cross (Covington) and Madison Central on the other court.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Newport Central Catholic and Boone County both finished 1-1 on the first day. After losing the first set, Dixie Heights jumped out to a 5-0 lead. However, after regaining the serve, Campbell (pictured) stepped in and served 13 in a row to put the Indians up 14-5. She kept the Colonels out of system with a variety of serves. Campbell, who recorded her career 1000th assist against Frederick Douglass on Thursday, continues to get a number of hitters involved with a number of short and long sets, including back sets. Campbell said the team played a lot of games this week so it was a matter of pushing through the fatigue. Campbell said the team had to have something to pick up the team and she wanted to be that for the Indians. She has a nice vertical and uses it to pound balls to different zones on the court. Couch sends sharp shots to the back line. Brinegar transitions from defense to offense quickly and is not afraid to slide into good position to make crisp first passes. Bringar lands sound hits on good liberos. Brinegar can handle deep hard shots in the three zone. Brinegar attributed her athleticism to genetics and the fact she's a three-sport athlete. Hayden delivers sound swings from both the middle and the pins. She can hit off solo and double blocks. Hayden takes nice shots to the back line.
