Campbell just completed her second season as starting setter for the Indians. Campbell involves a number of hitters with her dynamic sets including back sets to keep defenses guessing. Campbell makes sound first touches and is a solid server. Campbell had 816 assists, 254 digs and 54 aces to help Madison Central go 22-13 and win a fifth straight 44th District championship.

Campbell’s experience in club and high school is more than helping the Indians put together a solid 15-5 season so far, including a 3-1 mark in the Capital City Classic over the weekend. Campbell takes advantage of the number of talented hitters the Indians have, putting up a number of sets to both the middle and the pins.

While known for her setting, Campbell also delivered for the Indians in a different way against Dixie Heights. After losing the first set, Dixie Heights jumped out to a 5-0 lead. However, after regaining the serve, Campbell (pictured) stepped in and served 13 in a row to put the Indians up 14-5. She kept the Colonels out of system with a variety of serves. Campbell, who recorded her career 1000th assist against Frederick Douglass on Thursday, continues to get a number of hitters involved with a number of short and long sets, including back sets. Campbell said the team played a lot of games this week so it was a matter of pushing through the fatigue. Campbell said the team had to have something to pick up the team and she wanted to be that for the Indians. Campbell also said she trusts her hitters when it came to the 1000 career assists.

Campbell does what it takes to involve a number of hitters on each play. Campbell worked with a number of hitters during club season on the 66 Elite squad and consistently put balls in power zones. Her setter dump to the 10-foot line gives opponents something extra to consider. Campbell is also a sound passer. Campbell said she’s worked on her offense during club season, becoming a better tipper and adjusting to new hitters.
