WI Freshman Showcase: Powerful Pins Who Stole the Show

The gym was filled with talent from wall to wall at the WI Prep Dig Freshman Showcase, and it's safe to say the future of Wisconsin volleyball is in good hands. Across every position, players were making big plays and showing tons of potential. But it was the pin hitters who stole the spotlight. From explosive swings to confident court presence, these outsides and right sides played like seasoned athletes. The most impressive part? They're only freshmen. Here's a look at some of the powerful pins who made a major impact and left everyone excited for what's to come.    Anjelina is one of those players you can count on to rise to the occasion no matter where she is on the court. She reads the defense extremely well and does a great job placing balls in the open court. On top of that, she is a talented defender who especially stands out in serve receive, constantly keeping her team in system and ready to score.     Zoe, also out of Waterloo, is a fierce competitor who brings high energy and a ton of talent to the court. What stood out most about her was her ability to hit above and around big blocks, making it tough for defenders to read her. She is quick in her transitions on and off the net and consistently puts up a strong block as well.     Hadley is seriously one of the best blocking freshmen I have seen in a long time. Her ability to put up a solid block every single time while staying ready to transition and be available for a set is truly impressive. She has a natural instinct for finding the open court and was taking some absolute monster swings at the Showcase.     Natalie took control during Queens, quickly proving herself as the go-to player her team could count on to stay on the winning side of the court. She made an impact from all areas of the floor—delivering sharp, accurate passes in serve receive and bringing heat at the net with powerful swings. Whether in the back row or up front, she was making plays. I can definitely see her being an impact player for Arrowhead this fall.     Maia absolutely blew me away at the WI Freshman Showcase. She played with the poise and power of a senior, delivering big-time plays again and again. Her combination of height, speed, and vertical makes her a dominant force at the net, and she's able to put balls away with authority nearly every time she swings. Simply put, she's tough to stop. With DSHA coming off a state championship, I genuinely believe Maia has what it takes to help lead them right back to the state tournament.
