Gold Division Finals: Gonzaga Prep 2-0 over Wenatchee

Gonzaga Prep, a 4A school from Spokane, added a second tournament title this season, holding off the Wenatchee Panthers squad 26-24 and 25-17. The Crossover win follows their championship at the Sundown Festival tournament earlier this month. The Bullpups have strong play at the net with a mix of aggressive upperclassmen and young players with size and big arms. Noella Miglouri is an experienced and skilled hand who leads the offense, and Gonzage Preps' back-line defenders have proven up to the challenge in the first month of the season. Wenatchee did not drop a set until the final, and has its own set of high-flying attackers and gritty defenders. The Panthers should be right back in the mix among the best 4A squads, looking to hoist a trophy again at the state tournament in November.

Greenfield is starting as a ninth grader for Gonzaga Prep, and played six rotations on the outside at the Crossover Classic. Her serving was a key component in the win over Wenatchee. She strikes a flat, jump float with excellent pace and movement; her ability to knock teams out of system and deliver a timely ace will be key as Gonzaga Prep makes its way through the season. Greenfield has more than a wicked serve to her game, and she will be a player we hear from often over the next four years.

Luinstra was tough to stop on the outside at the Crossover tournament. The senior has added shots to her game; she showcased a power tip and a penchant for tooling high hands against Gonzaga Prep. Luinstra swung hard to the deep corner and played strong defense in the back row, flowing to the line and digging up hard swings, showing off her terrific feel for the game.

Silver Division Finals: Sehome 2-0 over Eastmont

Sehome looked impressive, dropping just one match on the day to Mead in a hard-fought, three-set battle in pool play. The Mariners cruised from that point on, taking the Silver Division Championship over Eastmont with scores of 25-9 and 25-17. Six seniors help power the squad, and sophomore setter [player_tooltip player_id='886941' first='Taylor' last='Turrell'] is doing an excellent job running the offense. Eastmont has a strong roster made up of all seniors and juniors.

The All-Conference 1st Team performer is a terrific talent. Andrews creates excellent angles with her platform and keeps her setter out of the net and in the system. The senior standout can frustrate opposing attackers with a timely dig on a big swing, and her quick feet keep the corners and the middle of the court covered.

The senior middle blocker has strong hands and does an outstanding job working out to the pins to put up a formidable block. The 6'1" Eastmont standout provides a formidable presence at the net for the Wildcats and draws blockers when she gets up in transition, keeping defenses honest with her offensive threat as an attacker.

The Rams dropped two matches in pool play, one to eventual champs Gonzaga Prep and another to Pullman in a tough three-set loss. After that, the West Valley Yakima squad found its groove and didn't drop a set over its next five matches.

Leaverton excels in serve-receive and playing acrobatic back-row defense. She is also a very effective attacker when called upon, as she is for Eastmont during the high school season. The Rams have her playing on the outside, and the class of 2027 prospect has delivered kills along with her consistent hard work defensively.
