I scouted two matches at the Seaman Invitational on September 27.

The first match of the morning was a two-set win by the Lansing Lions over the Spring Hill Broncos.

Both programs have new head coaches, and it was an enjoyable match for an 8:30 a.m. start time.

Here is a look at four Lansing prospects who posted solid numbers.

Return to Prep Dig tomorrow for a report on athletes from Spring Hill.

[player_tooltip player_id='222091' first='Avery' last='Sands'], 5'7”, DS/L, Lansing, ‘26

Sands never lets me down with her play. She is a spunky six-rotation athlete and the leader of the Pride. She finished the match against Spring Hill with 13 kills, 10 serve receptions, and seven digs. She is a “Back Row Bandit.” The majority of her kills come from back row attacks. The most impressive aspect of her game on Saturday was when she went over to calm down a freshman teammate after she committed a receiving error. Now that's evidence of her leadership skills. She is ranked No. 9 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026 and has verbally committed to Missouri State.

[player_tooltip player_id='541080' first='Macy' last='Bishop'], 5'7”, OH, Lansing, '26

The other strong senior performance came from Bishop. She had a steady match, recording eight kills, three serve receptions, one dig, and one ace. Bishop is ranked No. 87 overall and has verbally committed to Baker University. She plays an even-keeled game and does not let the emotions of the game get to her. She elevates well and can play six rotations.

[player_tooltip player_id='518358' first='Brooklyn' last='Andrews'], 5'8”, OH/S, Lansing, '28

Andrews is a talented setter who also provided solid defense in the win over Spring Hill. She registered 20 assists and seven digs for Lansing. The Lions are missing their top middle attacker, so she mostly set outside in this match. She has quick feet and top-notch instincts. Andrews is ranked No. 21 overall in the Kansas Class of 2028 rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='798398' first='Sami' last='Gray'], 5'6”, DS/L, Lansing, '27

Gray is currently unranked, but posted solid defensive numbers for the Lions. She tallied 11 digs and 10 serve receptions in the win. She has a quiet platform and moves well laterally. She made consistent first passes. She has been to multiple Division II Elite Camps. She communicates well with her teammates and does not get rattled during long rallies.
