Earlier this week, I highlighted a group of Fabulous Freshmen Making Noise in 2025. In researching those ninth-graders, there were plenty of other worthy candidates.

With that in mind, here's another set of first-year high-schoolers getting the job done around the state:

Davis shined when I scouted her with Six Pack during the last few club campaigns. That's why it's not surprising to see what she's accomplishing as a freshman on the varsity level. Through Friday's matches, Davis ranked second among Iowa ninth-graders with 164 kills. She also stood out with the Pirate leaders in digs (119) and blocks (20.0). Davis' statistics capture her skills as an all-around volleyball player. She's versatile at the net, able to operate effectively at either pin, and defend in the back row and up front. There's plenty of room to go before Davis reaches her potential, too, which should be exciting for colleges looking for prospects.

Harlan got her freshman season off to a roaring start with a team-high 154 kills through her team's first 20 matches. She was accomplishing it with efficiency, hitting .220. Harlan also ranked second in digs with 119 and kicked in 11.0 blocks. Harlan primed herself for an impactful ninth-grade campaign with strong training in the Premier Nebraska program. Not the tallest player at the pin yet, Harlan succeeds with an excellent vertical leap and a quick, powerful swing. She reads the block well and finds holes in the defense to end points. Already making a mark, Harlan is one to watch moving forward through the rest of this season and beyond.

Genskow announced her arrival in a big way. During Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont's first 19 matches, she had handed out 347 assists, which ranked fourth among all ninth-graders in the state. Genskow also chipped in 70 digs, 12 kills and 5.0 blocks, illustrating her talents as an all-around volleyball player. She has a good feel for the setter position, understanding where her attackers like the ball and being able to execute the delivery. With sharp reflexes and technically sound passing, opponents come up empty when trying to attack Genskow. Her height and long arms also aid her in putting up the block.

Conrad has taken the prep scene by storm. She ranked among the state's top freshman in assists (406) and digs (196) through the Nikes' first 24 matches. Her 36 kills and 16.0 blocks confirmed that Conrad could damage opponents in a lot of ways. She has a knack for finding the donut in the defense and dumps the ball over the next in creative ways when she sees it. Conrad puts up a high set so her attackers can get a clean swing and also can deliver quick sets. She's strong defensively in the back row and her long arms help her put up an effective block.

I've scouted Sweeney a lot on the club circuit the last few seasons and always left the gym impressed with her ability She's super efficient, playing within herself and not trying to do too much. But when the opportunity presents itself, Sweeney is equipped with the skills to get the job done. That's been readily evident during her 23 matches as a prep. The freshman was pacing her team with 131 kills with a .423 efficiency that led all ninth-graders. Her 23.0 blocks were tops on Janesville. Sweeney already is producing at a high level with a high ceiling, to boot.

Jensen has been a force in her age group on the club circuit since she stepped on the court. She's steadily improved her play and developed skills as she's matured physically. The total volleyball package has come along nicely, and it's shining through during her freshman campaign. Jensen was leading a much-improved North Cedar team with 64 kills in 32 sets. She showed maturity beyond her years in hitting .371 and taking advantage of what the defense was giving her on the attack. She also ranked second on the team in blocks, one of the strongest parts of her game thanks to height, long arms and excellent athleticism.
