Quinn Sweeney Quinn Sweeney 6'4" | MB/RS Janesville | 2029 IA is a MB from Six Pack 15U, and she is definitely a player you want on your team. Not only because she is a scary presence that you won’t want to play against, but also because she is an even better teammate. Sweeney always finds a way to put up a powerful block that most teams struggle to get around. Offensively, she always makes herself available as an option and knows how to finish the play.

Before the USAV Iowa Regional in late March, my previous time scouting Sweeney in person was during last club season. I watched her on-line when she stood out as a freshman during Janesville’s run to the Class 1A state championship match in the fall. She paced the Wildcats with 325 kills (.340) and 66.0 blocks. At regionals, she dominated and intimidated in the middle of the net for a Six Pack outfit that took second place and earned an America Division bid to this summer’s USAV Nationals in Indianapolis. Sweeney is every bit of 6-4 with long arms and an unusually heavy swing for a player her age. She can wind up and hammer a traditional set and also is capable of putting down a quick thanks to sharp reflexes. Speed, agility and strong fundamentals also lead to Sweeney being a major obstacle for the opposing attack.

I’ve scouted Sweeney a lot on the club circuit the last few seasons and always left the gym impressed with her ability She’s super efficient, playing within herself and not trying to do too much. But when the opportunity presents itself, Sweeney is equipped with the skills to get the job done. That’s been readily evident during her 23 matches as a prep. The freshman was pacing her team with 131 kills with a .423 efficiency that led all ninth-graders. Her 23.0 blocks were tops on Janesville. Sweeney already is producing at a high level with a high ceiling, to boot.
