The 2025 prep season is already winding down with the postseason beginning in less than a month.

Here's a closer look at which sophomores have been turning up the fire power this fall and leading the way in kills (stats through MaxPreps/Hudl) thus far in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='569772' first='Lauren' last='Sheldon'], Stoney Creek

Sheldon has been one to watch since last season as a freshman, but she's really taken a big step forward this fall and proving to be a top hitter in the state. Sheldon has 408 kills this fall, helping Stoney Creek find another gear late in the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='808004' first='Lauren' last='West'], Croswell-Lexington

West has also stepped up in a big way, really surpassing her freshman performance with 372 kills thus far in 2025. She's hitting nearly .300 in the process and just showing a lot more awareness and savvy at the net.

[player_tooltip player_id='569773' first='Skylar' last='Ignash'], Cass City

It's not surprising to see Ignash as part of this list, and she's only going to get better. With 367 kills in 2025 to this point, I like how Ignash is finding new ways to put the ball away and getting more comfortable in a lead role. Ignash has a solid 29-kill outing in a five-set win over Reese that really took her game to another level.

[player_tooltip player_id='808192' first='Reese' last='Williams'], Roscommon

Williams is a player who can do everything, and she's proving to be one of the top sophomores in the state. Williams has 357 kills and counting this fall while hitting over .300 and doing it with a great mix of power and finesse.

[player_tooltip player_id='732303' first='Annie' last='Saenz'], Concord

An emerging middle, Saenz has powered the Concord offense with 354 kills this fall. She's doing a great job of high-pointing the ball and putting consistent power behind it. Saenz is riding a 14-match streak with double-digit kills.

[player_tooltip player_id='569767' first='Quinn' last='Nelson'], Marian

Nelson had to sit out her freshman season, but she came ready to explode as a sophomore. Nelson has 336 kills to lead a talented Marian offense, while hitting just under .300. Nelson is also putting up her best games against the best competition, which is a positive sign for her future.

[player_tooltip player_id='829421' first='Amaya' last='Frias'], Ionia

A great story this fall is the Ionia volleyball team and they have a sophomore leading the way. Frias has put together 296 kills this fall. She's been very consistent in her production as Ionia keeps racking up wins.

[player_tooltip player_id='584598' first='Allison' last='Stakoe'], Bloomfield Hills

Bloomfield Hills looks like a D1 contender and Stakoe is a key piece to that. She's got 287 kills on the season while hitting .311 for the Black Hawks. She put down 14 key kills in a four-set win over Clarkston last week to lock up a league title.

[player_tooltip player_id='881556' first='Stella' last='Polavin'], Forest Hills Northern

The Huskies have another talented young finisher at the net. The 6'2” Polavin has 275 kills on the season, finishing from either pin. She's been steady, but always a threat to get hot, as she showed in a 22-kill outing against Grand Rapids Catholic Central.

[player_tooltip player_id='587016' first='Lillian' last='Bowman'], Plymouth Christian

Plymouth Christian is no stranger to having strong young hitters either. Bowman is a 6'1” outside that has put down 274 kills this fall and looks ready to take her game to another level in the next year.
