Skilled volleyball players from all over the US travelled to Hillsboro, OR this past Saturday to show coaches and scouts what they are made of. Here are the setters from the class of 2026 to 2029 who showed up and played hard:
Gargurevich is a versatile setter with the ability to hit in the front row. She runs a fast 5-1 and puts up a solid block against big hitters. Her jump setting is strong and her locations are spot on.
Evaluations are normally subscriber-only but when an athlete subscribes, theirs becomes free for all readers.
Subscribing doesn't change who the Scout covers, it changes who gets to see it.
Acosta Alcazar has great eye work on the net, choosing who she sets carefully and following through. She pushes the ball to her pins and is consistent with her placements.
Bennett is a fast and dynamic setter, working her offense and moving her feet to the ball. She sees the court before she makes a move and knows which hitters are going to get the job done.
Shidner is a dynamic setter, using her fast touches on the ball to launch her sets to the pins. She works every hitter on the court, making sure the ball is sent over the net aggressively.
Bennett has early hands and good locations of her sets. She moves her feet fast on the court and always tries to get her hands on the ball no matter how far away it is.
Sulages has clean hands on her sets, touching the ball lightly and moving her wrists to launch it to the pins. She makes good decisions when setting, understanding her hitters and who can score a point.
Goode works calm and steady on the court, with her feet moving to the ball before her hands. Her eye work is great, tracking the ball and letting it fall perfectly into her hands.
