Prep Dig has teamed up with Avoli, the volleyball brand built specifically for female athletes, to present Committed — a spotlight series celebrating standout athletes at each 2025 Prep Dig Showcase. These athletes are chosen for their leadership, sportsmanship, and relentless work ethic — the same values Avoli champions on and off the court. Each featured athlete receives exclusive Avoli gear in addition to their own spotlight article. Learn more about Avoli and explore their performance-driven footwear at avoli.com.

The Arizona stop of the PrepDig Exposure Tour marked our first showcase in this state, and the talent did not disappoint. Among the athletes who made an immediate impact was Cadence Spilsbury Fehr, a Class of 2028 standout with a 4.0 GPA who competes for Tucson High Varsity and Club Cactus 16 Mizuno. Cadence brought a steady presence to the court, pairing composure with competitiveness and a clear love for the game.

Cadence was selected as the Avoli Committed Athlete for her consistent communication, respectful leadership, and ability to stay locked in through every point. She elevated the athletes around her by setting a standard for effort and mindset, even while competing with unfamiliar teammates.

Leadership

Cadence stepped into a leadership role as the pace of play increased and court groups shifted. She took ownership of the flow of the game by being decisive in her communication, calling seams, taking charge in broken plays, and helping her teammates stay connected from point to point.

“When the pace picked up, I made sure to communicate excessively to my team about every part of our game to keep us organized and flowing well.”

Her leadership extended beyond words. Cadence consistently took charge in the back row, called balls with confidence, and pursued every touch with intent. According to Coach Austin Pingel, “On the court, she took charge of the back row and never let a ball drop without putting in effort.” That combination of voice and action brought stability to her court group and allowed them to compete with clarity in fast paced, unfamiliar lineups.

Sportsmanship

Cadence leads with respect, no matter the situation. She consistently looked for moments to uplift her teammates and recognize effort, even when the scoreboard did not reflect the outcome.

“As a player, respect comes first no matter who I'm playing against or who I'm playing with. There were many times where I encouraged another athlete, like when one of my teammates made a great hustle play. Even though we didn't earn the point, I celebrated her for her insane effort.”

That positivity was constant throughout the day. Coach Pingel noted that she was “always positive, on and off the court, actively picking teammates up.” Her encouragement helped create a competitive environment where athletes felt supported, confident, and willing to push themselves.

Work Ethic

Throughout the showcase, Cadence competed with intention and resilience. She stayed focused on the next play and relied on her passion for the game to fuel her performance.

“I strived to maintain a next point mentality and tried to remember why I fell in love with volleyball in the first place, which led to my passion being showcased alongside my true love for the game.”

That next point mindset showed up consistently. Coach Pingel emphasized that Cadence “wouldn't dwell on any mistakes,” instead resetting quickly and bringing the same energy to the next rally. Off the court, she continued to lift her teammates, serving as what he described as a “cheerleader who inspired teammates to higher levels of performance.”

Cadence Spilsbury Fehr embodies what it means to be an Avoli Committed Athlete. She competes with purpose, treats the game and those around her with respect, and brings a mindset that consistently raises the level of the court. Her combination of academic excellence, leadership, and genuine love for volleyball makes her a standout in the Class of 2028.

Congratulations to Cadence Spilsbury Fehr on being named the Avoli Committed Athlete for the Arizona stop of the PrepDig Exposure Tour.
