Among the athletes who rose to the moment was <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='886524' first='Skyla' last='Martin']</strong>, a 5'9 outside and right side hitter from San Leandro High School who graduates in 2028. With a 3.83 GPA and a key role for Lakas 17s Elite, Skyla competes with the drive of an athlete who knows how to impact the match from anywhere on the court.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Skyla was selected as the <strong>Avoli Committed Athlete</strong> for her leadership, vocal presence, and readiness to step into any role her team needed. When rotations got messy and players were uncertain of their assignments, she stepped in with clarity and urgency to keep the match running smoothly.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“During the NorCal Exposure Tour, my team had a few miscommunications early on where we were missing an opposite or middle back, but we always figured it out quickly. I stayed loud both on the court and off court and helped fill open positions to keep the game flowing.”</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Challenging players with a new lineup every few minutes, Skyla maintained strong communication to help the group form chemistry fast.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“Being vocal helped us get comfortable with each other and build a connection quickly.”</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sportsmanship</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Skyla brought the kind of energy that makes volleyball fun. She celebrated the small plays that spark momentum and the big swings that bring the gym alive. Her encouragement helped keep her teammates confident in tight situations.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“I really focused on celebrating both the small and big moments. Her competitive mindset helped her court group keep their standard high.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“Even when I was tired, I pushed myself to keep my energy high so our team could stay locked in. My drive to win, whether it was a drill or a scrimmage, kept me going.”</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Her team, the Musketeers, played with resilience and earned strong results throughout the event.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“We managed to stay on the top court most of the time and only lost two games, which showed how hard we all worked.”</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Skyla competes with urgency, discipline, and heart.
