UHSAA Breakdown: 2A Pins

Moving on to the 2A division, our all-state breakdown features several standouts and unknown names who made their mark and left behind a legacy of their own. And perhaps the most exciting aspect of this division are the younger athletes who are and will soon become the cornerstones of their programs' future success.    [player_tooltip player_id='836350' first='Morgann' last='Mcpherson'] from San Juan is a hardworking, athletic outside who has a solid foundation to continue building upon. Her ability to get to the ball quickly and take quality swings made her a reliable asset for the Broncos. She ended her career with 1,137 kills and 1,056 digs, exhibiting her ability to be both an offensive and defensive contributor.     At 5'11, Kenidie Fowler hit a .405 on the season, ranking #5 overall in the state. Offensively, she's been a consistent force as she posted 1,139 kills with a career .346. Kenidie has a fast arm and generates good power and pace, allowing her to find kills in and out of system. She forms her angles early in serve receive and has solid footwork to keep her form steady.     From South Sevier is 6' [player_tooltip player_id='834303' first='Kinsey' last='Parsons']. She is athletic, versatile, and has a great swing. She is fluid in her approach, generates great power behind the ball, and has a proficient range to score. Her mechanics are solid in serve receive, defense, and attacking, showcasing her capabilities and potential as a 6-rotation pin or middle.   For the Rams, she posted 1,477 kills with a .203 hitting percentage, along with 617 digs. During the 2025 season, Kinsey ended with 469 kills (.257), putting her at #9 overall in the state. She is a player I am excited to watch this coming season, and am looking forward to seeing where she ends up in her volleyball journey.     [player_tooltip player_id='827556' first='Olivia' last='Bassett'] for the Millard Eagles was a steady, proficient force. She had 501 kills (#5 overall) with a solid .265 on the season. What makes her standout on this list is not only her technical attributes, but also her physicality and eye work at the net. Olivia can identify where the block is in front of her and execute from different areas at the net. Her last two steps are explosive and she has solid power to find floor or drive through blocks.     Jovee Riness made her debut for the Eagles and put up some impressive stats as a 5'8 freshman. She put down 465 kills with 194 digs and is ranked #2 with a .431 in Utah off of 893 attempts. She already has good mechanics and technique, but has great potential to continue amplifying her game. Jovee has adequate pace, power, and range to score, but her ceiling is high and I am excited to catch her in action this season.    Second Team    In her career with the North Summit Braves, [player_tooltip player_id='835131' first='Lydia' last='West'] recorded 248 kills and 281 digs. She understands her positions responsibilities and has a fluid arm to turn the ball past the block down the line or angle. She transitions out quickly and her footwork is efficient in her approach.     [player_tooltip player_id='828612' first='Abbi' last='Roberts'] is a high-energy kind of player. For North Sevier, she had 392 kills and 286 digs as a two-year varsity contributor. She works hard to get off the net, get her feet to ball, and take good swings. Even though she is 5'7, she plays fearless and will stay aggressive no matter how big the block is in front of her.    Third Team    As a freshman for the Broncos, [player_tooltip player_id='764519' first='Faith' last='Flannery'] put up 277 kills on the season. An aspect of her game that sticks out is her versatility as a young athlete. She has showed that she can score from both pins and the middle if needed. Faith has a long, "whippy" developing arm swing that is only going to continue getting better. Her power and pace behind the ball is good and has the range to score in different areas of the court. She has a good foundation, with solid understanding of mechanics and technique that are only going to improve with time.    Honorable Mentions    Jerzee Beaumont is a very athletic and versatile player. She can score and be effective from both the middle and outside. She has good court awareness and ability to score with off speed shots or swings. Jerzee produces quality power behind the ball and makes good adjustments to get her feet there. For the Beavers, she has so far reported 547 kills and 733 digs.     Standing at 5'11, CJ Barber is versatile in her ability to play and excel as both an outside, rightside, and middle. So far in her career for Intermountain Christian, she has posted 292 kills and 234 digs. She understands all three positions and has good sense of timing. CJ has good energy, a great attitude on the court, and is an athlete that I am excited to watch this club season.    Several other athletes also made the awards list, but I either did not have the opportunity to watch them or could not find much film of them playing. However, the magnitude of these awards does not deserve to go unrecognized and I look forward to seeing them play in the future.
