Players To Watch In The 17 Club Divisions At Central Zones

Finishing up the 17 divisions represented at the Central Zone Invitational this weekend, we're combining players to watch from three different divisions (Red, White and Blue). Here are five players from around the state of Indiana that are under-the-radar finds for recruiting this epic two-day tournament.    Amelia, already in a volleyball-centric family, is a long and lean pin attacker from the south side of Indianapolis playing up a year on Circle's 17 Volt squad. Able to attack high and hard, pick and choose her shots and play with a high level of volleyball acuity, Miss Hartman has all of the tools and the talent to make recruiters watch a little more this coming weekend. She's playing up a year on this roster, which leads me to believe that she's more than capable of handling older and physically stronger competition without difficulty.     Another diamond-in-the-rough from the Fort Wayne area, Ashley is adept at abusing undisciplined blocks and putting pace on the ball. That pace is hard to defend—-the ball she hits has more weight behind it than most her size that attack. Her pass-to-attack movements need a little work, but having the ability to play up a year and train like crazy this spring should clear any doubts to that slight deficiency.     Amelia is a strong and broad-shouldered lefty banger that can terminate at any angle and with adept touch when needed. Yes, she's listed “setter” as one of her positions she can play, but the display she put on as a right side at the MLK tourney this past weekend leads me to believe that her future lies with her sledgehammer of a left shoulder. She jumps well for her size, hits any and every angle available to her, and sees the court well when trying to score points. They say you can't teach six feet, and Amelia's skill set and size combination is even HARDER to find in this class on the right side.     A solid M2 in the making, Brooklyn is a physically stronger middle than a lot of the available middles in this class. Her ability to get her feet to the ball, no matter where it's set, and hit any angle possible makes her indispensable as an attacker. She see the court well, and the entirety of her skill set reflects that fact. Yes, she's listed as under six feet—-don't let that fact dissuade you from recruiting this young lady, as her work ethic and solid training shines through regularly.     Although I've seen more footage of Hadley playing right side than middle, she's capable of doing both at the next level. Hadley's length makes her look much taller than she actually is, and the skills, timing and footwork are there to be able to carry out the task of being a solid three-rotation attacker. I haven't seen much blocking from her as a middle, but her long arms, broad shoulders and eye sequencing while blocking make her an ideal candidate for training the little things that come with defending at this size.
