She's joined in the middle by explosive <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='226899' first='Cree' last='Hollier'] </strong>(Austin Peay) and lengthy <strong>Vlada Yashcynska</strong>. This trio gives Legacy a lot of variety at the position, but plenty of power. On the outside, Legacy has <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='446702' first='Elise' last='Hiemstra'] </strong>(Columbia), <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='226895' first='Jillian' last='Ferrill'] </strong>(Illinois State), and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='489939' first='Vivian' last='Jones'] </strong>(Bowling Green) to work with, while <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='828378' first='Riley' last='Copenhaver'] </strong>(Duke) is a dominant 6'2” right side. These pin hitters have great length, but also know when to dial it up. They are also well-balanced and can come through with difficult defensive plays.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Ball Control Setters</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Setting up the hitters will be <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='226885' first='Allie' last='Davison'] </strong>(Citadel) and the lone 2027 prospect on the roster, <strong>Sophia Nepszy</strong>. Davison has been a dynamic setter for the Marian program for years, and has displayed the ability to be a hitter and elite defender as well. Here she can polish her setting skills, which are already strong. Nepszy is a Canadian prospect that shows a lot of consistency and brings good energy to the court. This is a great opportunity for her heading into her senior year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Defensive Depth</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Legacy won't be lacking in defensive talent, as <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='226908' first='Meredith' last='Martin'] </strong>(Michigan), <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='356397' first='Jadyn' last='Kennedy'] </strong>(Toledo) and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='586437' first='Madalin' last='Hersman'] </strong>(Dartmouth) are all on the roster. Martin has been one of the best at her position nationally in the club scene and she brings a lot of smooth play to the back row. Kennedy has also been a big contributor for Legacy ins previous years, coming through with some timely digs. Hersman has been up against a lot of great hitters in her career and she will fit right in with this roster. She's another well-balanced player that is very reliable.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Expectations</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>After finishing out of the top 10 in the Windy City Qualifier to open the season, Legacy 18-1 ADIDAS bounced back to end January by taking home the Ohio Valley Qualifier Open title. They won a tight third set in the semifinal and final, showing the grit this roster is going to rely on. There's a lot of talent here, so as this team is able to gel and get into a flow, they should be able to compete with the best 18 Open teams out there.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
