Champions Cup Returning Stars and Top Performers

The Champions Cup is only a few days away, and it is going to be a great event. This is one of my favorite events of the season, and many teams are returning from last year's event! Let's check out some impact players.    Keira is scrappy and energetic on the court. She makes big plays and gets touches on everything. Her all-out effort was something that really caught my eye at the Champions Cup last year, and I am excited to see her on the court again. She played nearly every set for Plymouth this past fall and is sure to be a key contributor for I AM at the Champions Cup this weekend.     Isabel is an impact middle who can terminate at the net. She played her first year on varsity for Waunakee this year, and though she saw limited court time, she was in the gym practicing and competing with one of the best Division 1 teams in the state. Even before her varsity experience, Isabel was not a middle to mess with; she was hungry at the net and exploded onto my radar last season for her ability to put down back-to-back kills and be a huge asset with her block.     Matty is a middle for [program_tooltip program_id='428659' first='Wisconsin' last='Blaze'] 17 Black, and she provides a lot of length at the net. Her work ethic and discipline on the block help her get great touches to slow down opposing offenses. She can move from pin to pin in a few explosive steps and does everything she can to be a significant force on defense, then transition to be available on offense.     Marin is an athlete who really stood out to me last year at this event and throughout last season. When I saw her play, she was a 6-rotation lefty right side and simply dominated every aspect of the game. Marin brought consistency and the ability to play clean and efficiently throughout the tournament. I am excited to see her do it again this year.     Anna has such a high contact that it is tough to stop her. She really utilizes her full extension on her swing and an explosive approach to maximize her vertical in order to terminate at the net. Anna makes high-energy plays and can really help build momentum throughout a match.     Brianna is another player who stood out to me last year. She was relentless at the net and crafty with her shots. That savvy court awareness will only have grown as she has continued to play competitively. She is also a solid passer on defense and serve receive and reacts quickly in chaotic situations.     Mattea is a setter with a great work ethic on the court. She is going to hustle for every ball and put up a set for her team. She isn't afraid to use her middles and has really developed a great tempo set on good passes. Mattea is the kind of player who gets the job done. She is a watchlist player in the class of 2028 and one I am excited to see on the court again in Appleton this weekend.     Stevie is a libero who is absolutely relentless on the court. She never lets a ball drop on her watch and will chase anything down to keep it alive. She is scrappy and can be hugely frustrating to opposing offenses. She absolutely wowed me last year with her grit and the amount of coverage she had on the court.
