What a time to gain momentum.

Last weekend, we were treated to the second iteration of this year's Great Plains Region Gold Series. Nebraska Elite was the site for this one, drawing some of the state's top competitors across the age spectrum. With major events looming on Presidents' Day Weekend, the Nebraska Elite Classic was a perfect early-season venue to hone skills and upgrade team chemistry.

The storylines go on and on. We're keeping a particularly close eye on the Class of 2028, which will begin its collective recruiting journey this summer. This club season is an ideal time to make a big impression, and several of Nebraska's sophomores are already capitalizing.

Here's a glimpse at who stepped up at last weekend's regional festivities.

Our Nebraska Elite Classic preview mentioned one all-GJNC honoree, so let's bring up another one. Hoff is back in action as South Central NE 16 Black's leading distributor and all-around "glue" player. She guided last year's small-town crew to the USAV Nationals podium and put up monster sophomore stats for Aurora High School. Hoff's smooth touches set up her terminal teammates at Sunday's event. These regional venues are the buildup to a high-stakes trip to April's Show Me Qualifier, where South Central NE will look to repeat history.

Speaking of last year's Show Me Qualifier, we finally caught up with the 15 American champs at last weekend's Nebraska Elite Classic. Morgan has produced plenty of highlight moments with her Club Legacy squad, and she added a few more to the roll against high-level GPR competition. She was a go-to out-of-system option for 16 Alpha at the Nebraska Elite Classic, reminding us of how Morgan was so successful on the 15s scene last season. This six-rotation outside hitter embodies the versatility and adaptability that will carry Club Legacy to new heights in 2026.

Januelwicz left no doubt about her readiness to pile up more accolades in 2026. We've documented how last year's [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] 15 Elite group ascended the divisional ladder en route to GJNC, and this Grand Island native was an integral part of the triumph. She showcased her familiar burst in the Nebraska Elite gym during Sunday's outing, leading to some gritty victories on the GPR stage. That should translate well to national venues, too.

Fowlkes continues to rewrite narratives and scouting reports. During last summer's charge to GJNC glory, Fowlkes primarily wielded her quick arm in the middle for Premier Nebraska. However, we also know the Gross Catholic sophomore can soar on the pin and provide lethal scoring off of two feet. She proved that pin prowess again at Sunday's event and eagerly anchored the right side for Premier 16 Gold. Fowlkes will readily slot into any spot around the dial and give maximum effort to her varying duties. We saw it at the Exposure Tour last year, and Fowlkes hasn't slowed since.

Bartholet has returned to form. After missing much of the 2025 campaign due to injury, Bartholet has joined the fray for Premier Nebraska 16 Black and provided a new influx of offense at the opposite position. The Skutt Catholic sophomore is quick off the floor and has established herself as one of 16 Black's strongest wing blockers. Sunday's event provided a valuable glimpse at the fresh look for 16 Black this year, and Bartholet will be a key cog in any lineup.

We're fascinated to see how [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 16 Titanium approaches the upcoming midseason slate. McCarty and her team have ample experience at the Open level and are now making further strides through the GPR Gold Series. Whenever 16 Titanium needed a clutch swing or a sideout, McCarty often delivered on the outside at Sunday's event. She also has the ball control skills to back up her presence along the end line. Lincoln Southwest has a large footprint on the 16 Titanium roster, helping McCarty take the initiative as a vocal leader for her talented team.

Nebraska Elite 16 Alpha is incorporating several new faces in this year's lineup, allowing Walters to rise into the spotlight and boost her stock. The Syracuse standout recently landed on our 2028 watch list after piling up over 300 kills in her sophomore season with the Rockets. This explosive uptick in production has precipitated Walters' move to the top Nebraska Elite lineup for 2026. She brings a quick arm to the left pin and will readily go pass-to-attack in the 16 Alpha frontcourt. The GPR Gold Series provides infinite value for new contributors like Walters to find an early-season rhythm.
