Molosky Running The Offense

Five:1 is going with Sophia Molosky to run the offense this club season. The Flint Powers Catholic product will be playing at Mott Community College next fall. She's made a lot of big strides in her game over the past few seasons and is working to add new dimensions during the club season. Molosky also brings a potent serve to the table while improving on her defensive play.

Plenty Of Hitting Depth

Five:1 18 Black has a nice roster of hitters to work with. [player_tooltip player_id='442613' first='Lily' last='Sukup'], [player_tooltip player_id='805680' first='Hannah' last='Schummer'], and [player_tooltip player_id='589152' first='Maddison' last='DeRosia'] are outside options while [player_tooltip player_id='831527' first='Eleni' last='Kosmanopoulos'] and [player_tooltip player_id='839757' first='Zoey' last='Sellers-King'] can play the outside or the middle, and [player_tooltip player_id='827640' first='Preslea' last='Hanson'] is a primary middle hitter. Sellers-King is heading to Saginaw Valley State and she can play anywhere on the floor and make an impact. Kosmanopoulos (Mott CC) has a lot of nice spring off the floor and can make quick contact. Hanson (Mott CC) has good length to work with and times up her attacks well. Sukup (Mott CC) is a strong all-around player that leaves it all on the floor. She brings plenty of explosiveness as a hitter while being a gritty defender as well. Schummer (Mott CC) can get on a roll at the net. She's got a smooth swing and a strong follow through. The same can be said of DeRosia (Mott CC), who has a big follow through that generates a lot of power. She can come through with a big momentum-swinging kill.

Defensive Leaders

Five:1 has talented outsides that can step up on defense, but also some great back row leaders in [player_tooltip player_id='586765' first='Ava' last='Boldman'] and [player_tooltip player_id='809009' first='Makalah' last='Habina'] (Mott CC). Habina has consistent first contact, as she sets herself up well to get squared up to the ball while being one of the top servers. Boldman has smooth delivery on her digs and in serve receive. She adjusts herself well to keep her arms in good position when having to make a sprawl or dive.

Expectations

Five:1 18 Black has been busy with its play, already competing in four high-profile events. They have mixed up their competition divisions to get a feel for different speeds of play and talent levels. That should help this group get ready for play at the college level next fall. With a lot of this group heading to Mott CC next fall, there's a lot of chemistry to work with that should only make the roster stronger. They have a slew of potent hitters that can get on a roll and should make them very competitive.
