Next 16xBlue Claims Title at Cinci Super Cup

With a 7-1 overall record, Next 16xBlue recently earned the championship at the Cinci Super Cup in the 16U age group as they competed with their full roster for the first time. This is a team that features a handful of sophomore prospects that all contributed point scoring at the varsity level in 2025. They have been competing well as a team in spite of missing some pieces at earlier events as this recent success raises their bar for more success ahead. Here are a few of their key contributors so far.    Coming into the club season, Cox brought the best arm regarding impact and volume of success coming off the fall high school season. She has good physicality at the net with a strong presence when attacking. As she gets up well, she also opens her shoulders to create torque and pace that can overpower the block. Second offensively for Johnstown-Monroe in 2025, she earned a career high 307 kills for a 3.5 k/s average. Look for her to rise in the next rankings update.     Damron gets a lot of opportunities for this team at the left pin. She had a good February as a key point scoring threat, using her 6'0 length and high extended arm swing to score on the angle or down the line at the edges of the defense. If she can get her timing consistent to contact at the peak of her lift and not on the descent, she'll maximize her 9'10 touch point and her impact will likely increase.     Joseph may have some of the biggest potential on this team. She is athletic and continues to develop that to her advantage on the offensive side. She builds momentum in her approach work that leads into her ability to get up with good lift off the floor. Her sophomore season with Big Walnut included a career best 121 kills on a .339 efficiency, along with finish second defensively at 2.1 b/m.     Steele (*pictured) is developing a good skill set as a setter and right side attacker with her left arm. She has good length at 5'11 and she uses her physical frame well to get up and swing while also taking control of her team's offense with her distribution. She can contact high to run middles through a variety of options or to send the ball across the court with good command of her touch and force of extension to get the ball where she wants it to go. Her balance and contact when setting can also lead to crafty point scoring at the second touch, while her right pin attacking allows them to run a 6-2 to sustain hitters in all positions each rotation.     Wurtzman is another versatile player with her ability to set the offense and also score as an attacker if needed. She led Columbus Academy with 435 assists in 2025, launching her career total to just shy of 750 assists. As she also earned 1.3 k/s, her arm was a big factor at the service line with 74 aces. As a setter for Next, she pursues the ball well and shows good consistency in delivering the quick tempo they like to run to their left side hitters. Her ability to toss the ball against the flow is also a big asset as the combo of setters they have do a good job balancing their attack.     Forman is a complete attacker with her ability to take big swings at either pin or provide scoring action in the middle. Her aggressive style is one that continues to help her individual success as she gets her feet to the ball well with the purpose of putting big force behind the ball. She had a career best 151 kills for Thomas Worthington in 2025.     Miller continues to make gains in her ball control as her serve receive mechanics often take care of the first-touch to get her team in system. She tracks well to get the ball on her midline while also able to create good range and extension when she shuffles to face and angle left or right. Defensively, she has good quickness in her reactions and pursuit.
