Six Rockstars at Rockin’ Rockford This Past Weekend

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Saw a lot of good games this weekend in Rockford. The UW Sports Factory was jam packed with volleyball, was hard to get around ... but managed to take in quite a few games. I had a chance to watch mostly 15U play over the 2 day weekend. She was able to make good swings, even when the set was off of the net. And when the set was perfect put great swings on the ball. Her arm has a nice sling back motion that makes her tough to defend. Good spin on the ball when she hits it. You can see the ball detonate out of her hand when she puts a swing on it. Give her a good set and she will let loose. Saw her make some great hits this weekend and just be athletic keeping plays alive for her team. She did a great job setting and hitting. Athletic player who can do it all. Saw her make tough serves that come over on a rope. And she has soft hands. Her hitting was very impressive as well, showing off a nice vertical and is a lefty. Saw her hit the ball from multiple spots on the court, RS and in the the middle and she can knock the cover off the ball. I saw her take serve receive very easy, no panic, no strain just easy perfect 3 passes to her setter. Did a nice job playing defense in the back row. Always seemed to be under control and not rattled. I saw her play a couple of times and was just there to take care of business. She had a handful of blocks and the good kind that makes people take notice. One play I watched her time a back row attack, arms stretched high for the monster block! She seemed to have good timing and tracking was noticed. I also saw her get some nice kills! She made some smart choices in the game I seen her play. She made a great jumping 2 hand push shot to the corner. Made some nice cut shots opposite court, and used some power swings for kills. She also managed to come up with some big aces while serving and using her length for blocks at the net. Good all around game I noticed.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Always fun to walk into a new gym on a different weekend and see who stands out to you. Watching a lot of girls play this weekend a lot of different skill sets stood out to me. You can really tell when you are watching a good setter. When a middle or front row player changes the game with their blocking. A DS/L in the back row controlling the game. Whatever skills you have, lock in and help your team, they need you!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
