Union 16 Blue Elite, Purple Travel Team Overviews

The team recently finished fifth out of 36 teams in the 16 Club White Division in the Bluegrass Tournament.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Oldham County sophomore Amelia Bowman, Mercy sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='955488' first='Sidney' last='Lee'] and North Oldham sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='780009' first='Bella' last='Roederer'] begin things as defensive specialists. Then Elizabethtown sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='611962' first='Stella' last='Janes'] quarterbacks the offense as the setter.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This team has one middle blocker in Lyla Skees from Floyd Central (Indiana). Oldham County junior Ella Daniels and Silver Creek sophomore Berlyn Duke are the setters.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The two middle blockers are Christian Academy of Indiana sophomore Morgan Kreutzer and Brownstown Central sophomore Emma Sparks. Janes played opposite hitter during high school season, but has moved into a setter role during club season. Janes has shown great touch and good arc on her short and long sets during club season. Janes can even do a back set. She does lean some while performing the back set, but is improving there. Het setovers can also use some work, but her dedication should help her get to the point of running them efficiently. She anticipates balls well, sets up her feet then makes smooth first touches. Roederer can dive when needed, but does it under control. Lee does not hesitate to dive out of necessity, but does it under control. Balls go forward toward the net for setters to make plays on. Doss sends balls hard down the lines and hits softer touches to the three zone. Doss even sends nice cross shots to the three zone on go routes. Doss also does a great job angling balls off blocks for big points.
