What’s the Deal with PrepDig?
If you've recently heard about PrepDig, seen an article shared by a teammate, or noticed a scout in the gym with a camera and a notebook, you might be asking a simple question:

What exactly is PrepDig?
Is it rankings?
Is it recruiting?
Is it media?
The short answer is that PrepDig sits in the middle of all three.
But the real purpose is simpler than that.
PrepDig exists to evaluate athletes, tell their stories, and help college coaches discover players they might not have seen yet.
And right now, with the free trial period open, it's a great time to understand how the platform actually works.
PrepDig Is a Scouting Network
PrepDig is not just a website. It's a national network of scouts covering volleyball across the country.

Every weekend, PrepDig scouts are in gyms watching athletes compete at qualifiers, showcases, invitationals, and national events.
Their role is to observe closely, evaluate athletes in real time, and translate what they see into clear, meaningful coverage.
That work turns into the articles, evaluations, rankings, and athlete features you see on the site.
It's not highlight culture.
It's live evaluation.
At its core, PrepDig exists to positively impact the high school sports experience by providing exposure for athletes through comprehensive coverage, rankings, recruiting resources, and, in many markets, tournaments and showcases.
Rankings Are One Piece of the System
Yes, PrepDig publishes rankings.
But rankings are not the entire platform.
The most important guideline for our Scouts is that the rankings are a projection of someone's future collegiate potential, not a reflection of their current ability.

Rankings are built through a combination of:
• In-person evaluations
• Film study
• Tournament performance
• Feedback from coaches and programs
They are updated multiple times each year as scouts gather more information and athletes continue to develop.
Players are added, moved, or tracked through Watch Lists as new data becomes available.
Rankings can create visibility, but they never define a player's future.
Development, consistency, and character always matter more.
Player Profiles Help Coaches Learn About You
Every athlete covered by PrepDig can have a Player Profile on the platform.
These profiles give college coaches a quick place to understand who an athlete is. University Athlete houses the coaches' notes, whereas PrepDig gives coaches a more well-rounded view of the athlete.

Your profile includes:
- Name
- Position
- Grad year
- Club and high school
- Measurables
- Academics
- Social links
Many players already have profiles created through event coverage.
If you see your name on PrepDig, you can claim and update your profile so coaches see the most current version of you.
Articles Inform Our Community How Recruiting Works

Most PrepDig articles are written for college coaches.
But athletes benefit from reading them too.
Why?
Because the articles show exactly what coaches are paying attention to.
When scouts write about players, they often highlight things like:
Serve receive stability
Decision-making
Tempo control
Communication
Defensive reads
Leadership and composure
Those are the traits recruiters care about most.
Reading the coverage helps everyone understand how the game is evaluated at the next level.

Social Media Is Part of the Ecosystem
Another way athletes appear on the radar is through social media.
PrepDig scouts track athletes through Instagram throughout the season.
Highlights, schedules, tournament updates, and team moments all help scouts follow a player's development.
If you post volleyball content, tagging @PrepDig and your PrepDig state account allows scouts to see it and potentially track your progress over time.
Your social media page has essentially become a digital volleyball resume.
Used thoughtfully, it can be a powerful tool.
Showcases Create Evaluation Opportunities

PrepDig also hosts showcases throughout the year.
These events allow athletes to be evaluated in a controlled environment where scouts can observe players side by side.
Unlike tournament play, showcases provide a setting where athletes can focus on:
Skill execution
Communication
Competitive response
Adaptability during drills and game play
Showcases often lead to written evaluations, articles, and additional exposure opportunities.
For many athletes, they become a helpful checkpoint for development.

PrepDig Scouts Are Real People
One thing that surprises athletes is that PrepDig accounts are not run by automated systems.
Behind every account is a scout covering players in a specific region.
If you see a PrepDig scout at a tournament, feel free to introduce yourself.
A simple introduction goes a long way:
“Hi, I'm (Name). I'm a (Grad Year) (Position) with (Club).”
Recruiting is still built on relationships.
And sometimes the best connections start with a simple conversation in the gym.
The Goal Is Visibility

At its core, PrepDig exists to do one thing:
Help athletes become visible.
Visibility can come through:
Articles
Evaluations
Rankings
Profiles
Showcases
Social media
Each piece works together to create a bigger picture of who an athlete is and how they compete.
No single post, ranking, or article defines a player.
But together, those moments build a story that college coaches can follow.
Final Thought
If you are exploring PrepDig during the free trial window, take some time to look around.
Read the articles.
Search your name.
Check out the rankings.
Follow the scouts covering your region.
The platform is designed to help athletes understand the recruiting landscape while giving college coaches better visibility into the next generation of players.
And sometimes the first step is simply understanding how the system works.
Thank you for making today's wins matter — one article, one player, one memory at a time.
